The North of Ireland Family History Society is a non-profit organization that is informative, patient, and honest. I found this site while searching for my Scots-Irish ancestors. The secretary Rob Davison has provided help, direction and most of all the kindness that is found in the Irish people. I would highly recommend anyone that has hit a brick wall or has any questions to search this site. I joined the society, the cost is 10 pounds sterling. They suggest getting a check through RUESCH INTERNATIONAL BANK, although I am not that patient. So, I just went to my local bank, got 10 pounds sterling in cash (at current exchange rate, no fee) and sent cold hard cash. I live in a VERY small town in East Tennessee and our banks carry foreign currency so I am sure that yours does, too. The North of Ireland Society received the cash and immediately sent out their annual journal. No problem! Their patient part comes in the million seemingly dumb questions that I have the ability to ask (being blonde IS an asset). I now have the Townland, Barony, Parish and Poor Law Union of my ancestors. They were able to 'translate' the spellings from an obituary in the late 1800's. Their site can be located at: http://www.mni.co.uk/nifhs/ Happy hunting! Mary McG in Tennessee
