    3. Hi Everyone, My g-grandfather, Robert MULLENS, left Co. Fermanagh as a child c1841. He was born about 1839 and arrived in Sydney, Australia, with his parents per "Percy" 28 August, 1841. The trouble is that we have two MULLENS/MULLEN families arriving on the same ship, both settled in the same country town, in NSW, and both brought with them a child named Robert. One boy was 4 on arrival in Sydney, the other was 6. One family was that of Patrick MULLENS/MULLINS and his wife, Francis McCABE. Patrick was born Garvary c1815, son of Roger or Roderick MULLINS and Bridget MAGUIRE. Religion Catholic. Patrick and Francis arrived with the first of the children of their family: Thomas 9, George 7, Robert 4, and Mary Jane 1. The other family, on the same ship, was that of Robert MULLEN later MULLENS/MULLINS, and his wife, Jane. Robert and Jane arrived with the first children of their family: Daniel (old enough to be counted as a seperate immigrant), John 8, Robert 6 and Peter 2. Has anyone any connections to either family? I simply cannot find which family my g-grandfather Robert came from. Descendants of one of the families claim that they are not related. My g-grandfather lied about his age, when as a widower, he married a much younger woman in New Zeland in 1877. Then he varied his age slighly on different records back in Australia. This has made it difficult to work out his year of birth. His death cert. is of no help. Robert's second wife, Mary, could not write, it seems. She does not seem to have known the names of Robert's parents. Although she gave indication that he arrived in Australia as a child. Robert died at Quantambone Station, Brewarrina, NSW, in the 1890's. No, they have no records of employees going back that far, we tried that route. This is a real puzzle. It shows the difficulty many Irish of last century faced when coming to a new country. I would be soooo glad of any help on this one. Elizabeth
