The medieval parish was called Magheraculmoney ( Machaire Chul Maine). The Curch of Ireland created the parishes of Drumkeeran and Colaghty our of the northern half of Magheraculmoney in 1793 and 1845 respectively. The Ordinance Survey officially adopted both Magheraculmoney and Drumkeeran as Civil Parishes in 1830. The earliest reference to this parish was in correspondence with Rome, Itally in the 1280'a. Early pastors were the McGraths, Muldoons and O'Flanagan's.
