Hi List, I have just found the baptism of my ancestor, JOHNSTON ARMSTRONG bapt. 1816, Lisrace, Clones, Co. Monaghan and his siblings as well as the death of their father, MAXWELL ARMSTRONG, husband of ELIZABETH MOORE, d. of Capt. JAMES MOORE on a film, but could not find the marriage. My information is that MAXWELL A's parents were "Sweeper" JOHN ARMSTRONG b. ca. 1750, Co. Fermanagh, and ELIZABETH MAXWELL (BUCHANAN ?), d. of Capt. (JAMES ?) BUCHANAN of Craigavern and Dromakill in Scotland, and that they were married in Thorneybank, Scotland, ca. 1770, their children, IRWIN, RUTH, MAXWELL, and BESSIAN. IRWIN ARMSTRONG is said to have married MARY ELIZABETH ARMSTRONG, d. of JOHN ARMSTRONG Esq. Lieutenant of the Royal Irish Artillery, Fermanagh in 1794. Sorry for the long listing, but some of the above leads me to wonder whether I should now be looking in Co. Fermanagh for my ancestor, MAXWELL ARMSTRONG's birth ? Is anyone researching, or descending from the above family ? Most of the generation born in Co Monaghan subsequently emigrated to Blanchard Township, Perth County, Ontario, Canada in the 1830-40's. Thanks for reading this ! Margot - Courtenay B. C. Canada
