I am attempting to trace the Alexander Mitchell family from Ontario, Canada back to Ireland. The family reportedly came to Canada about 1832 or 1833. The records of Alexander's second daughter, Susanna, indicates that she was born on 17 February 1819. I have two different sources of information about where in Ireland she came fro. One source states she came from County Fermanagh. The second indicates she came from Longford. I have looked up Longford and find a number of townlands and a county. However, I do not find a Longford townland in County Fermanagh. Can anyone provide any clarity to this ambiguity. Also, how might I find birth records which go back to the 1800 - 1830's?
