I am new to this list. I am researching the FERGUSON and ELLIOT of the parish Clones. The following records are of particular interest: Griffith's Valuation, parish of Clones, 1862 Tattynageeragh: John ELLIOTT Annaghilly North: Elliott, Michael Tithe Applotment Books, parish of Clones, 1833 Annaghkeel: John FERGUSON, William FERGUSON Tattynageeragh: John ELLIOTT Annaghilly: G. ELLIOTT IGI Trancription, parish of Clones, Batch #C700681 Margaret ELLIOT c 8 May 1795 Father: Thomas ELLIOT Mother: Martha My interest stems from the death record of Isaiah FERGUSON who died 31 Aug 1889 in Salisbury, Queensland, Australia. That record states that his parents were John FERGUSON, a soldier, and Margaret ELLIOT. Isaiah is believed to have been born 13 Aug 1808 in Cork where perhaps his father was on a military assignment. The earliest record I can find of Isaiah places him in Drumilkin, Aghabog, County Monaghan in 1832-1833 (Tithe Apploment Books). His marriage to Ann LAHY occurs 10 Jun 1833 in Ballymachugh, Co. Cavan by license and such a license would be required if Isaiah and Ann were from different parishes as appears to be the case. Cheers, Colin Ferguson
