My ggrandmother was Mary McCAFFREY of near Derrygonnelly (probably Lisdead) who married Patrick CASSIDY (probably from Drumgormly) and emigrated about 1841 to WashDC, US. Mary had a cousin named Peter B O Flanagan, who became a Jesuit priest in the US> His family was from Aghakeerin, on the border of Devenish and Boho parishes. It is also known that Mary had several women relatives in DC, 1.) Catherine McCaffrey (b Mar 1848) who married a William KEMP (born in NB, Canada) 2.) Elizabeth ____? (b 1839) who married Francis GALLAGHER in Ireland and emigrated in 1860. Elizabeth supposedly was married before, and had 2 or 3 children. Her husband disappeared and she married GALLAGHER and emigrated to the US before 1867. It is not known what happened to the older children (they may have died young), but she had 3 children with Gallagher (John, Joseph, and Elizabeth Agnes) after they were in the US. These women many have been Mary McCaffrey's cousins or nieces. I'd like to connect with anyone researching GALLAGHER from Co Fermanagh, esp from the Derrygonnelly area. Janet C-S
