I wonder if SKS could give me some advice. On the 1881 Census in Preston, Lancashire my grandmother's brother William ABBOTT is shown as aged 10, birthplace Fermanagh. Her sister Elizabeth ABBOTT is shown as aged 7, birthplace Belfast. Their parents Peter ABBOTT born in Lancashire and Isabella (nee RUTHERFORD) born in Scotland lived in Ireland for about 5 years, before returning to Preston. Peter was a catholic but Isabella was not. Their children were brought up as catholics. I sent to Ireland for a birth certificate for William born in Fermanagh about 1870/1 but they couldn't find the birth. Is there an 1871 Census for Fermanagh and are there catholic church records available to look for the births of William in Fermanagh and Elizabeth in Belfast? I also have ancestors who were born in Ireland - JAMES COLLINS, b. 1781, married in Preston in 1820 to Margaret Smellie from Scotland. JOHN DUDDY who married CATHERINE GORMAN. Their children were born in Garstang, Lancashire then settled in Preston and PATRICK COMER who married Eliza Jones of Broseley, Shropshire whose children were born in Bilston, Staffs then moved to Worsley near Manchester. If anyone else is researching these families I would love to hear from them. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Anne
