My gr-gr-gr-grandfather EDWARD THOMPSON was from Castlecaldwell, Beleek, Co. Fermanagh & wrote this in his Bible: "Edward Thompson Senior was born August the Sixth 1814 or 1819 at Castle Caldwell, County Fermanagh, Parish of Beleek, Ireland Aughtordrum, fifth son to Walter & Margret Thompson. Farewell to my happy & youthfull days at Sweet Castle Caldwell, I hope God will give me & my wife & all my dear children a happy home with Himself in the next world. Edward Thompson is my name & with my pen write.........." The rest is illegible; underneath he listed his children & their birthdates. Can anyone tell me what "Aughtordrum" was or means? Also, can anyone explain why he didn't know his own age any nearer than 5 years? If he was the 5th son he obviously knew what order he & his siblings came in.....could he have had no idea how old they were? Presumably they wouldn't be spaced as widely as 5 years apart....
