I have two locations near Enniskillen which I would like some help to locate 1. A possible ancestor is shown on the 1788 register of voters for Enniskillen (Killycloughey). Where is/was that on the map? 2. Another possible ancestor is on the 1828 tithe record for Killesher Mullinavigh. Again where is/was that? Hi, I am looking for any family of Mary Anne or Rose Murphy @ 1870. Mary Anne married John Bannon of Killaculla. Rose was a witness to the event. John is related to my Bannons.Thank you, Ellen
I understand that there is a book written about the history of ARVAGH in Co Cavan. The only information I have is that the book includes a chapter called 'The Wann Years'. I am hoping that someone can tell me the name of the book and anything else about it please. Thank you Susan Wann smwann@hotmail.com
I will not make a reply to an individual request, nor answer a question thru the Group, but will copy their address and answer it to their addres and not clutter up the Archives which are loaded with some of these gems; "Yes, that is where they lived" "Do you have a first name for your second cousin" "You brother, the bachelor, what were his childrens' names ?? Nuff said Happy New Year Bud in Arizona
Good morning list, In the past week or so, someone posted info or a query about a BRIDHAM Family. Would you please resend the posting to me again off list -- thank you. Sorry, I can't remember which list it was on. Happy hunting, Helen (DCGS)
I have updated the Ireland books section of my website. New books have been added in all sections: Parish History, Local History, Genealogy, History, Fiction. New volunteers have also been added to do lookups in the books. You can find the links by going to the URL below my name. At the top of my homepage, under Ireland, click on Ireland Books. That will take you to the Ireland Books Discussion Mailing List website. At the bottom of that page, you will find links to both the Parish History Books and to the Ireland Book List. If you would like to add books to this website, just use the convenient forms at the bottom of all the book pages. If you would like to volunteer to do lookups, just email me off list. If your email address has changed and you are a lookup volunteer, please write me off list, giving the the book category and title. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com
On my last visit to PRONI, I started to have a look at catholic church records for Boho, Garrison and Kinawley. There seem to be no records after 1880 (approx). Does anyone know where more recent records are held and how genealogical researchers can access them. Frank McHugh
ToWhomItMayInterest: Peter Haggerty from Co Donegal Ireland & wife Nancy McGuire, maybe from Co Fermanagh Ireland, arrived in NB Canada ~1825 as a couple of kids. Now their family & successors populate the English speaking world. We know nothing of their Ireland history. If its of interest to you, visit my website noted below. Hello, I am researching the McCUSKER family from Co. Fermanagh. I have Constantine Cornelius McCUSKER, born somewhere around 1816/1820 in Cleenish Ring, Fermanagh. Constantine came to Australia aboard the Runnymede in 1841. He married Ellen GALBRAITH in Murrurundi, NSW, 1848 Constantine's parents were Anthony and Catherine McCUSKER. It is thought that Anthony was born in Cleenish Ring or thereabouts in the 1790s. Anthony's father is believed to be Constantine McCusker, born 1754, and died 5.5.1806 Aghalurcher. If anyone has any knowledge of these McCUSKERS, I would be pleased to hear from them. Many thanks, Ally McRae
Expanding my search area - looking for any connections/leads/clues/info for the following people...... My Great Great Grandparents, John McCutcheon and Mary McFarland were both born circa 1821 - possibly Tyrone County but info sketchy. John and Mary may have married before registration began in 1845. We know of only 2 sons - Samuel DOB unknown and William (possibly William "J") born circa 1865/1870, again supposedly in Tyrone somewhere (have 3 different birth dates but none have turned up a registration in Tyrone). William & Samuel came to Canada in 1886 or 1887. Samuel is believed to have been older than William; he headed west and disappeared. William settled in Paris, Ontario, Canada. William returned to Tyrone in 1894 and brought his mother to Canada where she died in 1899, age 78. It is not known where or when John McCutcheon died but believe he died in Ireland as he is not buried in cemetery with other family members here in Canada. It may be possible that these McCutcheon's started out somewhere else in N. Ireland but did end up in Tyrone mid 1800's. There is also some speculation on our part that William may not have been the son of John & Mary due to the fact that she would have been in her late 40's/early 50's at the time of his supposed birth - possibly he was the son of an unwed daughter but raised by John & Mary???? Would love to hear from anyone having any knowledge or connections to any of the people mentioned above - especially if you can solve the mystery of the origins of John McCutcheon and Mary McFarland. THANKS Ken Hartley Paris, Ontario, Canada

I am searching for the sister, and son , of my Great Grandfather William Bothwell who died at Ratona Co Fermanagh in August 1901. His obituary mentions Mr C. Plunkett as brother-in-law. His wife must have been William's sister. Does anyone have any information about this couple please? Also at the funeral were his sons William George, and Edward. William George was my grandfather, but I have been unable to find any trace of his younger brother Edward. He was born in Enniskillen in 1863, but that is all I know about him. I live in France and can only search on line and there are so few remaining documents concerning Ireland that it is very difficult. Would be grateful for any help. Joan

Hi, I recently received this reply through the Co. Tyrone mailing list. Does anyone have this book so that they can do a look-up, or can they send me the name of the book so I can try & find it? Thanks, Dorothy Quebec dquebec@sasktel.net "As were the Nixons. A recent book written about Co Fermanagh has a very good history of the Nixon family. dating back to the 1600's. Cause I can't remmber the name of the Parish best write to the Co fermangh list. Hope that helped. Also I remmber the Nison were Anglican. Been about 5 years since I saw the book." ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dorothy Quebec" <dquebec@sasktel.net> To: <CoTyroneIreland-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, October 18, 2005 9:41 PM Subject: [CoTyrone] ROLL CALL: NIXON, ISAAC > I'm looking for info on Jane NIXON, who married William Isaac in 1826 in Corrashesk, Fintona, Co. I have a book printed in 1688 entitled "The Actions of the Inniskilling Men".(This was presumably handed down from my grandfather and his father who were in the 27th.Inniskilling Regt.) The book includes 208 names of those involved in 1688 and it seemed possible that there might be interest today from the genealogical view. I shall be happy to do lookups as the names are carded Anthony
----- Original Message ----- From: Lori Michael To: FERMANAGH-GOLD-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2005 8:25 AM Subject: History I have been asked by a great niece to explain why my Irish ancestors left Ireland. Although I read all the posts, I am in no way an expert and don't want to give misinformation. Does anyone know of the history of the area that would have caused a family to leave Ireland about 1837 and go to Scotland? The family was Catholic. My ancestor worked at an Iron Mill in Scotland but I am told they were weavers in Ireland. Since British law did not allow Irish Catholics to hold positions of responsibility or trade the family decided to emigrate to Scotland. Does this sound true? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Ray and Brian for the suggestions. Kelly is an interesting option. My Hetheringtons had a habit of giving their children surnames for given names. The Ross Hetherington listed was no doubt named for his grandmother, Elizabeth Ross. Johnston(e) was used also. Maybe they were tired of names like John, James and William! Perhaps I'll try the 1901 census. If I'm lucky, Kel./Ket was still alive and living in Glencoonra. Lynda
