    3. Bill, Bruscarnagh is a new one on me. I've heard of the townland and know there were Quigleys there but never heard of any connection with mine. Is there any reason you might think my Catherine is connected with them? Thing is, there are no clues at all as to where she came from. She married Patrick Beggan (of Greaghawarren) but then, in 1896, she, one of her sons, Thomas, and a daughter, Maggie (Margaret), went over to Providence, Rhode Island USA, to stay with Catherine's other children, Patrick, Ellen and Anne, who were residing there. This is from a passenger list and also from personal letters. In the 1901 census of Ireland, Patrick Beggan was down as living on his own at Greaghawarren. I know that one of their other children, John, was married to Susan Lynch and living at Drumacritten and another, Bridget, had married a John Beggan and ended up at Aghagaw. All this information is futile, as it still doesn't tell me where she came from in the first place. These Beggans are a complicated bunch! Having got hold of this Lynch family register, I have all this new information floating round in my head and making me dizzy. 1. [FERMANAGH] McCaffrey
    2. John Howe
    3. I too have McCAFFREY in my family history also. ANNE McCAFFREY was born in county Fermanagh, Ireland, in about 1821. The shipping/immigration records of the Public Record Office in Melbourne, Australia show that, "Anne McCaffrey age 20, single, housemaid, Roman Catholic, able to read only, native of County Fermanagh, was an assisted immigrant on the "Frankfield" from Liverpool on 7th February, 1841 to Port Philip on 7th June, 1841." Anne married WILLIAM FRANCIS BATES, on 10th April, 1842, at St. Francis Church., Melbourne by the first Roman Catholic parish priest of Melbourne, Father P.B. Geoghegan. They had eight children: Catherine Anne, b.1842; Mary Ann, b.I843; William Francis, b.1846; Harriet Ann, b.1849; Edward Francis, b.1851; Christopher Francis, b.1852; Sarah Jane, b.1855 and Ellen Anne, who had died by I875. Anne died at Maffra in Gippsland, Victoria, on 25th May, 1895 aged 75 years and buried at the Sale 26th May. I have no idea of where she was born in Fermanagh as all official certificates just state that her birthplace was "Co Fermanagh, Ireland" Also do not know names of her parents.
