Can anyone tell me about the above place which is supposed to be in Drummully Parish in Fermanagh? I have mention of it in a wlll from 1765,and also in the title of a book"Rosborough,The Later History of the Family of Rosborough of Mullinagoan of Fermanagh. I haven't been able to find it in the list of Townlands,so maybe it was a manor house or estate. Thanks in advance. Regards Beth
I made a discovery yesterday about the above records, and I will pass it on,in hopes that it might help someone else. I have been looking for the Tithe Applotment film for Clones Parish in Fermanagh for some time. Some of my Rosborough family were shown to be there from the Householders Index. Finally I found the records in the Tithe Applotment film for Clones in Monaghan. Film #0256588[FHC] had the information for both Fermanagh and Monaghan. Regards Beth
Thanks, Beth! I'm sure that info will help someone! Now, if only they had listed the names in the Tithes for Devinish parish! :-) Janet C-S

On the Twelfth day of Christmas My true love gave to me Twelve census searches Eleven printer ribbons Ten e-mail contacts Nine headstones rubbings Eight birth and death dates Seven town clerks sighing Six second cousins, Five coats of arms, Four GEDCOM files, Three old wills, Two CD-ROMS, And a branch in my family tree! I would LOVE to add a branch and would gladly give up ALL my Christmas presents to do so, with the exception of the long underwear for my trip to Ireland! Mary McG in Tennessee researching: REA, Co. Fermanagh, Ireland. His father was Thomas Humphreys who was murdered prior to William's emigration in 1866 to Ontario, Canada. His mother was Margaret McDONOUGH, b. 18 March 1823/26 in Ireland. She remarried James STEWART, presumably in Ireland. They then emigrated together in 1866. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Many thanks to all who wrote with suggestions for an enjoyable visit to my roots area. It sounds a wonderful place for scenery, friendliness and not least the traditional music and the beverages<g>. On a more serious note, the tragedy of the "troubles" has already hit very close to home for I live near Manchester and we had a taste of what it really means. However, I can't let that put me off for I am determined to get there in the new year. Barbara

Hello, I've been off-line for awhile so will ask again - is there anyone on the list researching MOORE or GIBSON? My ancestors were Andrew MOORE who m. Sarah GIBSON in Fermanagh (prob. Enniskillen) ca 1790. They immigrated to Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada in 1830. Regards, Suzanne Lisson
I'm forwarding this helpful info: >From a personal observation of County Fermanagh, the home of my ancestors. I had the pleasure of visiting the area for a two week period in 1996. I stayed in several places, never paying more then 25.00 US for B&B. Some places were only 16.80 US for B&B. When I travel overseas, I go to see and do, so where I stay for the night is a minor consideration as I have never found a bad place to stay and the food was plentiful at all. I was hard pressed to find a detailed touring guide/map for this county as it is noted more for fishing and boating then anything else. These is a lot to see and do , especially if your ancestors came from this beautiful area. I purchased a "Fermanagh Lakeland" Outdoor Pursuits map at a local Gas station/grocery store and It proved invaluable as it had everything on it:ie, original spelling of townlands, roads and pathways to ruins, elevations of all the hills and mountains, location of old churches, graveyards, ect. The map cost about 5.00 US and helps me in my Genealogy work. Talk, Talk, Talk to the local people. They will tell you more of what you want to know then any tourist guide, book or map. I had been trying to locate the burial place of someone who died, way back in 1845. When I asked about this place, He politely informed me that the spelling and pronunciation was wrong, then proceeded to take me in his car to the exact place, which was no longer on the maps. Note of caution. If your trip is to be for an extended period of time, look for a Laundry for wash/ware as soon as you get there, they are few and far between. Enjoy the visit, for you will want to stay longer, will not want to leave, and will be anxious to return. Respectfully, Your Fermanagh County Host, William J Flanagan

Gene, Referring to your letter about the way your father signed his name. My father did the same thing with our name McCoy except some times he would use two little dots under the small C like this ". I have requested the head of our Genealogy Library to see if he can find out why they did that. I have Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary but it says nothing about using those marks in this way. Will let you know if I find out anything. It is a mystery to me too. Joyce (could this be an abbreviation for MacCoy? )
