    3. Dear Everybody: The first Euro-American child (i.e. a child born in the USofA before it was the USofA) was named Peregrine White about 1620 or so. I believe the ship he arrived on was the Mayflower. Pretty tough life for a boy named Mayflower, heh. 1. Getting back down the line
    2. Hi, I have just found authenticated another set of ggg grandparents. I found my gg grandmother by checking the 1901 census, From there I found her age ie . born in 1835 and luckily she had a 28 year old son still living at home so I asked PRONI to do a search for his birth certificate. They found it and from there I found her maiden name so now I have added the name SWIFT to my repertoire, it is however a bit spooky as I think it is the same family that my Aunt married into in 1955. I have found this census invaluable and would reccommend it to everyone. It is listed by family name, then christian names, ages of all in the household and place of residence. On average I have found 2 or 3 pages in each surname so it is easy to follow if you know the townland of your ancesters. Maureen

    3. To Jan Hunt Don't you just love the parents who use something distinctive like a ship's name for a child? What a boon for the genealogist! I have an Andrew Charles Bussorah Shipway who was born on the 'Bussorah Merchant' but commonly known as Charlie. Pity more people didn't lash out like that. Anne Maye

    2. Pettigo is the nearest town/village to Brookhill or Portnablahy and there is no Margaret Muldoon listed in Lowe's Directory. There were plently of little country shops which never made it into any directory. John Cunningham.

    2. Jan Hunt
    3. I have just joined this list and wondered if anyone had any information on Patrick Crozier from Enniskillen who married Margaret McGhie and came to Australia in around 1852. My great grandfather Thomas Oceanica Crozier was born on the voyage and was given his second christian name of Oceanica because that was the ship they were on. Cheers Jan

    1. Quigley
    2. Peggy, In the 1901 census Townland Drumacritten All the Quigley entries 1. John Quigley widowed aged 75yrs. 2. Michael Quigley aged 22yrs. 3. Jane Quigley aged 24 yrs. 4. Maggie/Margaret Quigley aged 15 years. Drumacritten is just outside of Rosslea past St Tierneys Church. You have landed in a minefield. These Quigleys far ,as I can make out came from Creaghawarren and Bruscarnagh. Certainly Creaghawarren. Catherine Quigley, who I think was the above John's sister married Patrick Beggan abt. 1858. The Rosslea baptismal records show the birth of a child in 1862 but I am pretty sure there was at least one before that. Anyhow, when they first got married they lived at Creaghawarren and then moved to Drumacritten. In Griffiths 1862 the only Quigley shown is JANE QUIGLEY with 26 acres. The total acreage of Drumacritten was 100 acres. You might try and get the 1901 census with all the Quigley names and maybe you will ba better able than I am to recognise the names you are looking for. I hate to direct you to another FHC but I think you would find Rosslea very useful as no doubt they will certainly have all the Quigley baptisms from 1862 and probably a lot of marriages. Maureen

    3. John, That's a great story! It did sound like it was recorded long ago. Coincidentally, I think some of my ancestors were from near there in Devenish also. The booklet in the CD set said "All tracks traditional/public domain except Needham, Keenan, Rowsome. Therefore this one is public domain. The Anthology has 40 Classic Songs, Jigs & Reels. My daughter purchased it in Auckland, New Zealand Airport in August. It says "Compiled by Ron Kavana. Proper/Retro, Made in EEC, BIEM-MCPS. I have no idea if this can be found in local stores. Perhaps a look on Amazon, Borders or a music store web site would find it for order via the internet. I will look around. Let's keep in touch. 2. Margaret Theochares
    3. After a four month wait and an e-mail I heard from Heritage world, County Thyrone. They confirmed Patrick, Mary Jane, JOhn born 3 Mar 1872, my grandfather, Catherine, Roseanne and Felix as the children of Johna Quigley and Ellen Swift. They could not find Ellie of Michael and found the following reference which appears to be connected: Margaret, my greataunt born 4 Aug 1885 to John Quigley and Ellen Hodegan. They apologized for the delay and added that Johnb Quigley, farmer, of Drumacritten, married Helen Swift, housemaid of Machena townland, in Rosles RC Chapel 9th Feb 1868. Both over 2l. Fathers Michale Quigley and Phiulip Swift, farmers; wirtnesses Edward Madden and Terence Leonard. I would appreciate any comments and advise on what to do next.

I do not know it but the song you mention must have been recorded, probably by Columbia, round about 1926. Barney Maguire, my grandfather, who was also a fine fiddler died in 1931. 3. I'm behind on my e-mail, and someone probably answered this, but if they didn't, yes, the book was re-published in the 1990's sometime, in Britain, with a somewhat different title. I found it hard to locate information on line, but a librarian was able to find it available for inter-library loan in the U.S., possibly the old edition, I'm not sure. Try Henry N. or HN Lowe as author. Yours, Dora --- Ellen Brown <[email protected]> wrote: > Jan, > > Is there a "new" book of these listing for > 1990?
