    1. [FERMANAGH] DRUM/DRUMM
    2. Carole Watkins
    3. Kate and Richard: My husband's great-grandmother, Roseann(a) McDermott Wise, arrived in the USA from Enniskillen, Ireland, around 1847. According to a family journal, Roseann(a) stayed with an aunt in New York for awhile and then went to visit with two uncles, Michael McGovern and Thomas Drum, in Jefferson Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. The family journal (we figure to be written in 1933) states that "Roseann(a) came to Jefferson, Green Co Pa to visite her 2 Uncles Michael McGovern and famile and her Uncle Tommy Drum an Old Bachlor who made his home with the McGoverns". If we presume Tommy was the Thomas Drum who arrived from Enniskillen in 1803, he would have been about 80, certainly befitting a description of "Old Bachelor" Somewhere in my files, I also have a newspaper death notice of Thomas' which we discovered when we went to Greene County in 1998. Unfortunately, off the top of my head, I can't remember the date! I have done no research on the other three Drums that arrived with Thomas on the Mohawk. Thanks, Richard, for the information on Drum marriages....I really appreciate it! Cheers, Carole Watkins Rocklin, California, USA

    2. Hi Bill, I'm responding to the name DOLAN, one of the surnames you listed. I have DOLAN ancestors who came from around Kiltyclogher, Cloonclare Parish, Cty. Leitrim. I've heard they went back & forth to Fermanagh because the border is so close. My ggrandfather was James DOLAN, born early 1800 in Cloonclare Parish, Cty. Leitrim. I haven't been able to locate two of his children, Charles, born in 1847 and Margaret, born in 1841. Would you mind looking for those names in the above book? I'm also looking for Frank/Francis & Bartholmew/Bartley GORDON, late 1870's/early 1800, but didn't see that name on your list. Some are buried in Fermanagh. Thank you. Mary L. Casey

    3. Regarding queries to priests and ministers of all denominations .. so many are run off their feet with their everyday pastoral duties that they just have zero time to even acknowledge enquiries and many have not enough parish assistance to do it for them. To an outsider it may appear that they are always out and never on hand but my own knowledge of the workload (hidden) is unbelievable. By its nature it also tends to be erratic and unpredictable. I would tend to enquire re the possibility of help with a brief check box note to be returned. Anne Maye
