You could be right, except Edward Thompson son of the Edward born in 1814 or 1819 in Castlecaldwell was NOT born in Ireland....he was born in Upper Canada, so "farewell to my youthfull days at sweet Castle Caldwell" wouldn't make any sense..... I am looking for a Church of Ireland cemetery in the Tempo area... though the family may have traveled a tad bit to nearby towns to attend services at a Church of Ireland church.... 3. Hi William, I am very interested in a place called LISRACE/LISREASK, also another called GRANSHA. My ancestor, Maxwell ARMSTRONG and his wife, Elizabeth MOORE, had at least 7 children baptised in the church at Clones, Co. Monaghan, between 1796 and 1816, and in all cases it said they were "of Lisrace". One son married a BLAKELY of Gransha. I would really appreciate any information you might have on these locations. To date I have been unable to find births or marriage for Maxwell and Elizabeth. Most of the children emigrated to Canada in the 1840's. I believe that a son, my gg grandfather, Johnston ARMSTRONG, was a member of the Aghadrumsee Loyal Orange Lodge. Thank you. Margot Jorgensen Courtenay B.C. Canada

    3. No, the original spelling is McCaffrey as it is stated, or MacCaffrey. I believe McCaffery may be an entirely different name but at times, I'm sure, it is a derivation of McCaffrey. -----Original Message----- From: William J Flanagan [mailto:williamjflanagan@cox.net] Sent: Monday, June 10, 2002 1:57 PM To: FERMANAGH-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [FERMANAGH] Ballymacaffrey ----- Original Message ----- From: <Gilliemcca@aol.com> To: <FERMANAGH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, June 10, 2002 11:06 AM Subject: Re: [FERMANAGH] Ballymacaffrey > Was the original name spelled McCaffery? 2. Colleen Andrews
    3. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather EDWARD THOMPSON was from Castlecaldwell, Beleek, Co. Fermanagh & wrote this in his Bible: "Edward Thompson Senior was born August the Sixth 1814 or 1819 at Castle Caldwell, County Fermanagh, Parish of Beleek, Ireland Aughtordrum, fifth son to Walter & Margret Thompson. Farewell to my happy & youthfull days at Sweet Castle Caldwell, I hope God will give me & my wife & all my dear children a happy home with Himself in the next world. Edward Thompson is my name & with my pen write.........." The rest is illegible; underneath he listed his children & their birthdates. Can anyone tell me what "Aughtordrum" was or means? Also, can anyone explain why he didn't know his own age any nearer than 5 years? If he was the 5th son he obviously knew what order he & his siblings came in.....could he have had no idea how old they were? Presumably they wouldn't be spaced as widely as 5 years apart....
