I think you could do much better by tracing the military man. He would have been in the British Army and they kept meticulous records for every post he was at , when he was there, family size, ect.,. Build up a chronological road map of his travels and the children will fall into places to look for records. Officially , Catholic Church record start about 1830-1835. School records predate some church records.. Land, estate and Manor records predate everything since 1620. If you read all my messages, pay a closer look to the one about Frank Smith. and the stuff that the LDS did not put out to the public unless you ask for it,

Hello List An interesting item has come up on the ebay auction site, a letter from Terence Bellew McManus dated 1849. The seller is in Nevada. You can view details at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2126289189 It's worth looking at the full description given by the seller as it mentions quite a few ex-Fermanagh exiles and gives a full transcription of the letter. I have no connection with this seller on ebay. Good luck if someone decides to bid! Jan http://www.fermanagh.org.uk --- [This E-mail was scanned for viruses for your protection]
Can anyone tell me about emigtation from Clones Parish to Scotland from about 1835. Which Port would they travel from and are there any ship's records available. I know that from about that time there was a Mail Coach travelling between Dublin and Belfast calling at among other places Clones and Enniskillen but where would the passengers embark to Glasgow etc. Maureen

Elizabeth was born about 1833. According to the Census she was born in Ireland I do not know her parents names but I do know that she had an Uncle Henry. This was found in the 1851Census of Port Glasgow, Scotland. Any Maywood or Magwood information gratefully received. Thank you for your time and consideration. Irene Esson, West Vancouver, BC
New Member Here: Good Morning: Searching for the above three names. For starters here is the following: M.I. from the Gorrie Ontario Cemetery of Howick Township, Huron, County, Ontario Canada In Memory of Jane Pinkburn wife of Charles Magwood Died Jul 26 1873 Aged 64 years A Native of County Fermanagh, Ireland. It seems the name Maywood changed to Magwood and visa versa. No doubt due to spelling errors. Irene Esson, West Vancouver, BC

Dear Maureen, Have just checked some records I transcribed in Irvinestown of McKnight families as I thought I remembered a McMulkin connection. This was from a computer printout at Clogher Community Care rooms of C of I records. McKnight Margaret, Carnboy married McMulkin James, Coolish 21 Dec 1835 Helen
Dear Maureen, Yes, I have viewed a film of the Old Age Pension Claims, copied by the LDS. Original records are at Proni record nos: T550/1-37. These contain duplicate 1841 or 1851 census records for those who applied for pensions in early 1900s, arranged by counties. My family of James and Barbara Carey and daughter Mary age 17 were in Drummal, Fermanagh and these records from 1851 census were used as proof of age for Mary when she applied for the pension. This was found in Vol 36 Mixed counties & baronies film no 0993106. There is an index to names completed by Janet Beresford Brooks - British Fiche area 6344865. Hope this helps. I am still trying to find Mary's death but there is a Mary Carey at Drummal age 58 on 1901 census which looks like a match. Regards, Helen
I have Masterson's book of these but does anyone know if the original records can be viewed anywhere. I have 2 Patrick Beggans in there with their familes both as luck would have it or not have it from adjoining townlands and I believe they have one of the children in the wrong family. I cannot understand why he is the only one subsequently living in the other townland. Making sense or what especially as his Christian name is as far as I can see only used in the other family. Maureen
