Hello Janet I see a number of Scott names listed as in Devenish on the CD index to Griffiths Valuation and at least one Montgomery. Does "The Parish of Devenish and Boho" by E.G. My Armstrong ancestors left Ireland before yours, but there still could be a connection. William Armstrong was born 1712 in County Fermanagh, the son of John or James Armstrong and Janey Baker. After he left Ireland, he arrived it the vicinity of Staunton,Augusta,VA. He married Mary Caldwell b Scotland. I have no record of his siblings, but have info on a lot of his descendants. He served on the American side in the Revolutionary War. He last lived in Hawkins County, TN. He married a second time to Abniah Morrisett, who I believe may have been the widow or daughter of Joseph Morrisett of Hawkins Co. Have a good time in Ireland. I am having trouble arranging a vacation at all this summer. I am going to Ireland on the 5th of June. My ancestors came from the county of Fermanagh and all were born on the townland of Kilmore, which is just outside of Newtownbutler. The family was on the farm until around 1875 and then moved to the townland of Lisegerton, to a small settlement called Millbrook, Co. Monaghan which is just on the the northern fringe of the town of Clones. The family is as follows. Thomas Armstrong (1808-1884) married Jane Alford (1813-1889) and they had eleven children all born in Kilmore. Robert, went to England Thomas, went to England but believe ended up in Troy N.Y. G'day All, I am trying to locate my McKearney family in Ireland. Have the following information, if you see a connection please contact me. It is believed they MAY have originated from the Fermanagh area. McKEARNEY, Owen m GREAVES/GRIMES, Mary (both born in Ireland) moved to live in Preston, England, first child born 1860 in England. The following marraiges took place in England, Father Hugh and mother possible Mary. McKEARNEY, Anne (dau of Hugh) m Henry DOLAN/DOOLAN (m.1877) McKEARNEY, Hugh (son of Hugh) m Alice SARGINSON (m.1868) McKEARNEY, Thomas (son of Hugh) m Catherine POLLARD (m 1868) McKEARNEY, Andrew (son of Hugh) m Margaret BERGINE (m 1865) Twins are quite predominate in this family and it is presumed that Thomas and Andrew could be twins. The following would have been born about 1820. McKEARNEY, Norah McKEARNEY, Michael McKEARNEY, Bridget If you see any thing that you may have a slight lead for me to go on, please contact me, this is a major brick wall for me! Thanking you all, Kathryn Adelaide, Sth Australia

Message text written by INTERNET:FERMANAGH-L@rootsweb.com >My ancestor Patrick CASSIDY came from near Derrygonnelly (possibly from Drumgormly). He married a Mary McCaffrey who was probably from the same area. Is anyone researching CASSIDY or McCAFFREY? Is anyone else interested in this part of Fermanagh? Janet Cassidy-Stroh< Hello I am researching MONTGOMERY in Fermanagh, two families! George was from Clay and his wife Elizabeth from Drumharriff, I believe both in Aghalurcher parish since they were married in Lisnaskea in 1842. In scanning the Griffiths CD, I located a Patrick Cassidy in County Fermanagh, Aghalurcher, Clay, and an Andrew Cassidy in Fermanagh, Aghalurcher, Drumharriff. I also found a Connor McCaffrey and a William McCaffrey in Fermanagh, Clones Parish, Drumharriff. I did not do a full search on Cassidy or on McCaffrey, only on the locations. I have the film of Griffiths Valuation on order at the local FHC. Elizabeth Montgomery's father was a William and her mother Catherine Scott. The Montgomerys were in Scotland by 1846, but I would like to trace the family in Ireland. Any comments? Suzanne Sommerville In Michigan, USA

Thanks David for posting the Fermanagh Herald's website! I found a listing for a McCaffrey in the obituaries, I know this is a bit morbid but as I can't find relatives in Fermanagh, every bit helps for when the puzzle finally comes together. We need people who are willing to share things they find and you are a welcome addition to this list of which I've only been a member of for a short time also. Thanks again! Seeking any information on Alexander HOGG and wife, Rebecca ISLES. They were married at Tubbrid Church, Drumkeeran Parish, Co Fermanagh in 1862. They had at least 4 children, Eliza Jane HOGG, Edward Alexander HOGG, Mary Ann HOGG, and Isabelle Rebecca HOGG. Family history says that after Alexander died in the 1880's, Rebecca took the two youngest children, Mary Ann and Isabelle to the USA. It is not known what port they arrived at, but Isabelle was married in Charlevoix County, Michigan in April, 1888. Anyone with any information on Tubbrid Church, or the HOGG or ISLES families in Feddans, Drumkeeran Parish, Co Fermanagh, please let me know. Barb Casanova Murfreesboro TN USA

Hello all, The Fermanagh Herald newspaper is now online, I found it the other day. It is published on Wednesdays, Have a look. I have been on this list for a week or two and have emailed some of you individually. I thought I would take a minute to let others know the names I am searching. My Fermanagh ancestors include the Blacks, Hamiltons, Rutledges, Newcombes, McCutcheons, Arthurs, and Cleggs. I can't get much more Fermanagh blood in me. All of these above names settled in Trafalgar Township,Halton County and Mono Township,Simcoe County in Southern Ontario. I have recently determined that I am most likely a descendant of Crawfords also. Although I seem to have access to more records than most I have just about reached the limit of the resources here in Toronto. I have found myself reading all sorts of obscure articles lately that every now and then gives me another piece to my puzzle. While I do this I am coming across many names others are looking for, I do my best to remember the bits and pieces I see and pass them on. Does anyone have access to any of the following long shots? 1665 Hearth money roll 1766 Religious census Parishes of Derryvullen and Rossory 1821 Govt census of Parish of Derryvullen Does anyone have any knowledge of the Arthurs or Blacks? Does anyone know how many people are on this list? Anyone actually in Fermanagh?
If you would like to read a description of growing up in a small Fermanagh village in the 1920s and 30s, you should read A Fermanagh Childhood by William K. Parke. Mr. Parke grew up in Derrygonnelly and is a local historian. He has captured the essence of village life of sixty years ago. The ISBN is 0 946872 02 0 I know it is available from Irish bookstores online, such as Kennys in Galway. Janet Cassidy-Stroh
