    3. Am looking for connections to all of these families especially those that had immigrants to Australia. It should be possible to locate all four families in the same location as it would appear that members of these families travelled together to Australia possibly on 'Maniless' c. 1841 and settled in Shell Harbour, Kiama area of N.S.W. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    3. Hi, I'm new to the list. I'm trying to trace any Wherry family connections. My Wherry family ancestors came from the area around the village of Tempo. My g-g-g grandfather came over sometime in mid-1850s, very likely during Famine. Wherry family remained. I know that some still live in NI. Would like to make contact with anybody who has traced their family back to a Wherry connection. Bob Ballston Spa, NY

    1. What was Mary's Surname. Any suggestions ?
    2. Rightec P/L
    3. Hi All, I apologise if this has been received before, however, I think I mucked the last one up and you probebly did not receive it. My g-grandmother was Mary ? who came from Co. Fermanagh to New Zealand. She married my g-granfather, Robert MULLENS, a widower, there and they came to Australia soon after the wedding. (Robert grew up in Australia and married his first wife here and they went to New Zealand, where she died). We think Mary was in her early twenties when she married in May, 1877at Lyttleton, NZ. Mary had been in New Zealand a matter of months. We believe she may have arrived there in 1876. Mary's name was recorded in new Zealand as McGOULD/McGOULIE and her age was recorded as 21 and 24. On arriving in Australia, civil records show her name recorded variously as: McGOULD, GOULD, GOLEY, GOLDEN, GOLEY, McGOY. And Cathoic Church records show Mary's maiden name as: MAGUALLEY, McGOLLICK, McGORY, McGAULIC and GORRICK In Brewarrina and Bourke, NSW, Australia. Obviously no one could understand Mary's accent and I guess she could not spell the name for them. Was there a name similar to something in the above which was common in Farmanagh ? Any suggestions as to which may have been Mary's correct name ? I would be most grateful for any Help. With best wishes to all. Elizabeth

    2. Mary McGinnis
    3. I am looking for information on: Johnston REA and Joseph REA The information that I have is from Johnston REA's obituary which reads: He was born in Killybawn, Firmany Co, Ireland, Dec. 24, 1790. He came to America with his mother, sister and brother and landed at St. Johns, N.B., Mar. 11, 1818. I know that it must be County Fermanagh, but have no idea how the town or village name would translate. The US census reports have Johnston born from 1788 to 1797. So, the year of birth is in question. I do not know his mother's or sister's name. I have been able to track the brother as Joseph REA, but have no birthday on him. I wonder if possibly Johnston's mother's maiden name would be JOHNSTON? >From searching in County Fermanagh I find that there were quite a few JOHNSTON's in the area. Any information on the REA's would be greatly appreciated! Regards, Mary McG in Tennessee

    1. Surname MULLENS
    2. Rightec P/L
    3. Hi Everyone, My g-grandfather, Robert MULLENS, left Co. Fermanagh as a child c1841. He was born about 1839 and arrived in Sydney, Australia, with his parents per "Percy" 28 August, 1841. The trouble is that we have two MULLENS/MULLEN families arriving on the same ship, both settled in the same country town, in NSW, and both brought with them a child named Robert. One boy was 4 on arrival in Sydney, the other was 6. One family was that of Patrick MULLENS/MULLINS and his wife, Francis McCABE. Patrick was born Garvary c1815, son of Roger or Roderick MULLINS and Bridget MAGUIRE. Religion Catholic. Patrick and Francis arrived with the first of the children of their family: Thomas 9, George 7, Robert 4, and Mary Jane 1. The other family, on the same ship, was that of Robert MULLEN later MULLENS/MULLINS, and his wife, Jane. Robert and Jane arrived with the first children of their family: Daniel (old enough to be counted as a seperate immigrant), John 8, Robert 6 and Peter 2. Has anyone any connections to either family? I simply cannot find which family my g-grandfather Robert came from. Descendants of one of the families claim that they are not related. My g-grandfather lied about his age, when as a widower, he married a much younger woman in New Zeland in 1877. Then he varied his age slighly on different records back in Australia. This has made it difficult to work out his year of birth. His death cert. is of no help. Robert's second wife, Mary, could not write, it seems. She does not seem to have known the names of Robert's parents. Although she gave indication that he arrived in Australia as a child. Robert died at Quantambone Station, Brewarrina, NSW, in the 1890's. No, they have no records of employees going back that far, we tried that route. This is a real puzzle. It shows the difficulty many Irish of last century faced when coming to a new country. I would be soooo glad of any help on this one. Elizabeth

The year may be off by one poss 1826. >>My question is. Now that I can narrow it down, and they were married in Kinawley Parish. At the time of their marriage in 1846 they were living in aughalurcher and either Dromlone or Dromborry. (After the Droml or b it is unreadable bumps.)<< Hello Joy Irene In Aghalurcher Parish there are 24 townlands that begin Drum . . ., none beginning Drom. There is a Drumbaghlin, and a Drumbrughlas (North and South), and Drumleagues (both Big and Little), Drumliff, and Drumlught that seem to approximate what you have given, or perhaps Drumany, Drumcunny, the only ones that end in y. My list comes from the FHL microfiche #6342443, which also shows maps of the counties and townlands. It cost me 25 cents to have it permanently available at the local FHC. >>Where is the best place to go next. >>Do I try to find out the name of the minister in Derrylin C of I and write sending a donation for looking up a birth record for Mary Browne in March 1826/27 or do I try an on-line search and use a credit card?<< I am not aware of any on-line search for Northern IreIand or even Irish records. Registration was not required until the 1860s, so there may not be a record or the record may have been destroyed. I am in the same situation with 1815 - 1821 births and an 1842 marriage for Montgomery / Scott families in Fermanagh.. Good luck!
