We have just discovered a few old letters dating back to the 1930s. In the letter my great grandmother's sister is referred to as Bridget who lived and died in Ireland but she came to America with her sister, Bridget, who lived around the corner from her and died here in America. How can this be? Any ideas????? Thank you. Kathy
Is there a School Board in Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, that I could write to to request school record information? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kathy
Could someone tell me about this Society -- what do they do, where do they meet, etc. Any information would be helpful. I come from a family of farmers in that area. Thank you. Kathy
I would like to try and find the school records of my grandfather who lived in Newtownbutler. As I understand it, in 1832 a National School was established in Newtownbutler. If anyone knows where I could write to obtain records of this school, I would appreciate it. Thank you very much. Kathy
Hi, I believe that along time ago my family name originated from here, the story as told from father to son etc is that many moons ago someone migrated to Australia and had problems with people pronouncing their name and henceforth changed it to Fermaner. Have you had any other queries from someone with this name if not do you have any ideas where to look. Thanks for your help! Regards Ben Fermaner ben.fermaner@intellect.com.au

I would like any information about William Stephenson. According to family tradition passed down from the early 19th century, he was an Englishman employed as an architect by Earl of Erine to superintend the building of Belmore Castle, County Fermanagh, Ireland. He was granted a tract of land near the castle and settled there. He had three sons, William, Andrew, and John. They all fought in the Battle of the Boyne, in which William the younger was killed and Andrew was severly wounded. Son John later settled outside Londonderry. Any information about Stephensons of the area, Earl of Erine, Belmore Castle (is there a picture available on the net?), or related events would be greatly appreciated! It is bordered by Aghalurcher to the south, Derryvullan to the north, Killesher to the east, and Clones to the west. It doesn't appear to be very big on the map. Hope this helps. Hello Hugh I do not see a parish named Curan or any variation in Fermanagh. There is a Curryann Townland in the Division known as Belle Isle (OS map 28). One list I have has this in Aghalurcher Parish, but there is a Belle Isle in Cleenish parish as well, just on the border of Aghalurcher from what I can tell. The Drumharriff & Clay townlands of my Montgomery families are nearby. Hope this helps Suzanne Message text written by INTERNET:FERMANAGH-L@rootsweb.com >G'day, James KELLY my gt-gt grandfather was born C1828 in the Parish of Curan, Fer. I am looking of any family of Oliver WALLACE who was born in 1832 at Enniskillen, Fermanagh, Ireland, parents Oliver Wallace and Elizabeth[Bessie] KERR. Oliver immigrated to Australia aboard the "Cairngorm" which sailed from Plymouth, England and arrived at Portland, Victoria on the 5th of September 1855. Travelling with him was his brother Thomas and his sister Katherine and her husband William Burleigh. They all settled in Victoria and raised families there. Any information on either families would be appreciated, Cheers, Raelene
