    3. Try searching the web for County Fermanagh and it is amazing what you can find. The library in Enniskillen is on the net.

    3. I'm not giving up yet. Are there any mailing lists IN Enniskillen and Tempo, or atleast Fermanagh County, the way there are in Suffolk County, England, where I found them and joined them? And also local genealogy or history societies? I can probably just get someone to look up my rare name in the phone book for me! Yours, Dora Smith

    1. addresses of libraries, Enniskillen, Tempo

    3. OK, let's try this one. Can someone possibly provide me the addresses of the main public libraries in Enniskillen and Tempo, Fermanagh County, Ireland! I would think if I sent them a SASE or international postal reply coupons or whatever, they would copy a page of the phone book for me! Yours, Dora Smith

    3. Can anyone please tell me how to find Irish phone listings, particularly for Fermanagh County, on the web? I want to locate some Cauthers relatives who probably still live there! And probably one or two of them even know about their Cauthers ancestors! And I'll need their addresses; can't afford fifty phone calls to Ireland! Yours, Dora Smith

    1. Re: addresses of libraries, Enniskillen, Tempo
    2. You can address your letter simply to Fermanagh County Library, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. There is only one library and the town is small enough that that is enough address to get it there. I think the SASE and postal reply coupons idea should work. Don't send a check, it is too costly for them to convert it. There may not be a separate library in Tempo, but I think the EK library would have the phone book anyway. Good luck! Janet C-S

We stayed at the Belmore Manor Motel run by Ray McCartney, Very nice. It has effecienties or just "tea making rooms" was about 50.00 a night U.S. Right in town (Fermanagh) and you can walk everywhere from there. If you go during tourist season, check with the tourist bureau in town, across from the bus station and they can set you up with everything. Lovely area on the Lake and lots to see. Everything closes (sightseeing stuff) by October lst---gals in the library are super. Close to Belleck pottery, nice tours there too. We were interested in Castle Caldwell, or orgins. Have fun. You know of course that this is in the ""troubles"" meaning the war zone. So be careful. They have had several "hits": there!! Pat In Ohio --------------B1598A0A4EBCC06075312139--

They have had several "hits": there!>> They have not had any problems in Enniskillen in several years. I was there this past summer, a week after the bombing in Omagh and things were fine. Anyway, after that outrage, the general feeling on both sides was "Enough!" and there will be no more trouble. The peace is holding. Enniskillen is a wonderful town. I recommend the restaurant "Oscar's" on a street near the Railroad Hotel, named for Oscar Wilde. Good food, nice atmosphere. Try to be there over a weekend so you can take the small boat to Devinish Island. I think it only runs on weekends off season. Ask at the tourist office. A nice B&B is on the Derrygonnelly road (towards Belleek), called Navar House. The proprietor knows a lot about good fishing in the area. If you like traditional music, try the pub in Derrygonnelly called The Cozy. Local guys play there on Saturday nights. The area around Derrygonnelly and over towards Leitrim is known for good music. If your relatives are from Fermanagh, Frank at the Town Hall in Enniskillen is very helpful to roots-seekers. He will do what he can to help you. Have a great time! Janet C-S

I am trying to track down any descendents of my g.gmother Maria GILROY(1853-1923) who was from an Enniskillen family and married John Knowles CLARK in 1871 in Liverpool. I know that there were certainly GILROY members living in Enniskillen circa 1950's (possibly an Alec or Alexander). Where could I get hold of a guide book for this area, which I would love to visit one day. Barbara(Ferguson)

    1. JOHNSTON / IRVINE of Co. Fermanagh
    2. I'm searching for links in Co. Fermanagh to my 3rd greatgrandfather, Charles JOHNSTON (1752-1845) who departed Co. Fermanagh for Upper Canada in 1822 accompanied by his second wife and large family including sons, Irvine JOHNSTON (1797-1885), James JOHNSTON (1819-1892), and Charles JOHNSTON (1800-1881), my 2nd greatgrandfather who married Margaret IRVINE (1802-1889) who was born in the town of Pettigo, Co. Fermanagh. So far the mention of "Petigo, Co. Fermanagh" in Margaret IRVINE's obituary is the only link to Ireland that I have. In Canada my JOHNSTON ancestors were members of the Methodist Church or the Church of England. I am aware that both families, JOHNSTON and IRVINE, are quite numerous in Co. Fermanagh. I am looking for some record that would place my ancestors in a certain townland or parish. Best Regards, Joseph D. Johnston

    2. Penny E Parker
    3. Hello all, I'm looking for the marriage record of JOHN GLENN / JANE STEWART. They were married in 1829, in Belleek Parish, Fermanagh, Ireland, according to the information they provided to for the Ontario Census in 1861. They had three children in Ireland, Margaret, Ann, and William, and emigrated to Canada in the early 1840's. They settled in Ontario and had three more children. I am seeking the marriage record so that I can confirm the names of their parents, most particularly the parents of JOHN GLENN. I'm really stuck on this one and need any and all help I can get...I don't know the town/township in Belleek. Thanks in advance, Penny Parker Alberta, Canada e-mail: pparker@compusmart.ab.ca

This is our first foray into the records of Ireland and, after discussing costs with Irish genealogists, have determined that it will have to be a do-it-yourself project until the prospects have been narrowed down a bit. He was probably Presbyterian...at least that was the religion noted on some early Canadian records, but became a Methodist after a second marriage to someone of German descent. We have an excellent genealogy library here in Houston, TX so I'll check to see if they have the book you mentioned. Regards, Bob Walker
