    1. Its in the genes.
    2. My cousin who I have not seen for for nearly forty years visited me at the weekend. We share a gg grandfather born in 1840. She is the absolute image of my mother but it didn't stop there. Her mannerisms were exactly the same and then it got really spooky. My mother has quite distinctive handwriting and my cousins is so similar it is unbelievable. especially as my mother born in 1926 left school at 14 years and my cousin has doctorate in Science. There is absolutely no connection in their education. I introduced her to some friends who know my mother well and they were equally amazed. Has anyone else found this eerie coincidence? maureen

    3. Hello from icy Toronto. I was wondering if there was anyone living near the Killesher Parish Cemetery, that might be able to walk through it and check for a grave for MARY REID/REED, wife of John Reid/Reed, who died between 1836-1848. She would have been in her 20's or 30's. (John Reid married later to Alica Jane Hart, who he is buried with in another grave). Thank you for any assistance. Regards, Peter

    2. Dick and Mary Kiernan
    3. This is an update of my previous post on this search... Looking for information on Keirnan or Kiernan family from County Monaghan (maybe County Femanagh or County Cavan)... My great-grandfather, John Swanzy Kiernan, left Ireland for Canada in 1860 from the Glasslough area – Coolcollid townland of Donagh parish (Monaghan). He had lived in Naghill townland of Drumsnat parish (Monaghan) earlier. He was a farmer and a teacher... He was Church of Ireland . Also looking for Swanzy and Malcolm from Monaghan (and maybe Fermanagh or Cavan)... John Swanzy Kiernan (or Keirnan)(born in 1812) -- Married Mary Malcolm (or Meaclem or something close)(born in 1815) in Naghill Townland of Drumsnat Parish in 1834... It is possible (likely) that his mother's maiden name was Swanzy (maybe Mary Swanzy ???) Lots of Swanzy's in Ballagh, Blackraw, Skervan, Skeagh and Naghill townlands of Drumsnat parish (Monaghan) and Collatty and Mullabrack townlands of Clones parish (Monaghan) --- Trying to connect the Kiernans (Keirnans), Swanzys and Meaclems (Malcolms)… Thanks Dick Kiernan

While I'm sure there must be other places in the US to get them, one place I know (and one with a website to learn more) is the Irish Genealogical So, Intl. You can find details of which map covers where at their website: www.rootsweb.com/~irish Follow the links: IGSI Resources> IGSI Bookstore> Maps for Sale For Fermanagh I recommend the Discovery Series Maps which are the most detailed--and are beautiful! They include lots of detail--cairns, graveyards, names of townlands (though not townland borders) monuments, almost everything down to buildings and dirt tracks--everything but the cows and the chickens! Incidentally, the GSI also publishes a terrific quarterly newsletter and is an organization worth joining. >> Janet C-S

    1. Aghalurcher correction
    2. Dear Friends, I am very sorry my yesterday posting left before I could finish and proofread it. All 4 of the entries I transcribed were marriages in 1812 in Church of Ireland Aghalurcher Parish, including Joseph WHITELY and Jane FORSTER 7 Feb 1812, NOT 1818. Those 4 entries are the only ones we know anything about, but if any of the data confirms yours, please email me. Maybe you can correct my attempt to read some of the letters. Then, I would pass on correct data to emailed reactions from others. We still search parents of Christopher LITTLE/LYTLE/LYTTLE of Rossorry Parish, who wed Margaret SCARLET there 28 Apr 1812. (entry # 64) (The year 1818 was their emigration to Upper Canada.) That Church is The Church of The Holy Trinity, next to the ruins of Castle Balfour in the village of Lisnaskea. Thanks, Pat, for spotting my error! Doug

    3. I am new to the list and would like to ask some advice, after 2 years of trying to find my GILFEDDER's in County Fermanagh, I have finally been able to obtain a death certificate of my ggg-grandfather Michael GILFEDDER, he died in December 1868, at Laughill Registration district of Belleck, age 75. It doesn't state his religion. How can I find out who his parents were ? Have parish records survived for Belleck for the period pre 1794 ? Any help or advice on how to proceed would be appreciated. 2. Marian Barton
    3. Hello Listers. I have enjoyed reading others postings and learned quite a bit too. I am hoping someone can help me. Family history says there was a John and Diana Barton who had 7 seven sons each of whom named their first son John and their first daughter Diana. Descendants are in Tyrone so that is where I have been searching. However, I found one record on the LDS site as follows: Edward Barton Dec 23, 1798 parents John and Diana Magheraculmoney, Fermanagh Has any one else come across this couple in their research. Any suggestions as to how to try to find the other 6 sons would be much appreciated. Regards to all Marian Barton [email protected]
