    1. [FERMANAGH] Mitchell Family
    2. I am attempting to trace the Alexander Mitchell family from Ontario, Canada back to Ireland. The family reportedly came to Canada about 1832 or 1833. The records of Alexander's second daughter, Susanna, indicates that she was born on 17 February 1819. I have two different sources of information about where in Ireland she came fro. One source states she came from County Fermanagh. The second indicates she came from Longford. I have looked up Longford and find a number of townlands and a county. However, I do not find a Longford townland in County Fermanagh. Can anyone provide any clarity to this ambiguity. Also, how might I find birth records which go back to the 1800 - 1830's? Thank you, Robert McFarland

    1. [FERMANAGH] Carrothers and Beggan/Little
    2. Maureen, I checked Al Beagan's site as you suggested but didn't find Carrothers mentioned anywhere. I thoroughly enjoyed the many topics he covered and feel that I learned a lot. Do you have any Little information that might tie into the Carrothers family? I appreciate calling my attention to Al Beagan's site and would appreciate anything further you might share. Regards, Pat

    2. William, Thank you but I think I was having a brainstorm. It was given as place on the 1841 census fragments for my ggg grandparents. I know where they came from so I was in blind panic in case I had got it wrong and then someone kindly pointed out to me that Clankelly is actually the Barony covering a huge area of Fermanagh. 2. Maureen --- not very helpful I'm afraid but I took up the challenge. There are 276 townalnds in the Barony of Clankelly, Co Fermanagh. I once found that a name sometimes occurs in the IreAtlas (www.seanruad.com) if one searches by Barony and here is CLANKELLY in full force. (There is also a Kilnakelly townland which seemed not a bad bet at first). Cheers --- Eleanor

It is a whild since I looked at it but I seem to remember the name Carrothers being there with the Beggan/Little. Maureen
