How and where do I access the mailing lists archives? Go here: http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl Type in FERGUS-L. This will bring up the page where you can enter your query to search the list for a specific topic. You can search by a key word - name, location, country, or even a date. If I were new to this list and wanted to find out if anything had been posted that might be related to my g-g-g-g-grandfather I would search for the following: <Francis FERGUS><Co Tyrone><Sept 8, 1752 or 8 Sept 1752> as a start to pull up all messages that might be related. Then from the person who has posted I would e-mail them directly to see if there was indeed a connection. Just a suggestion to help you expand your research. Or Go to main page at Rootsweb. Click on "searches" in the index on the left of the page. This will bring up the search page where you can click on the hyper-text which says: a million messages from over four thousand geneaolgy mailing lists. There is also a hyper-link to an index of the mailing lists which are available for various surnames, countries, areas, states, counties, and other genealogy interests. Happy (re)searching!
