    3. Hello FERGUS-List Subscribers, FERGUS-Digest Subscribers AND other persons I am related to or are related to the surname FERGUS to whom I am sending a blind copy! ----------- One of our own FERGUS list members is a part of the website listed. George sent me the URL to look and see the extensive organization of the COMBS family research on the Internet as a possible model for the surname FERGUS. It is indeed a marvelous collection of people working together and building an extensive base of information on one family name. Please take a thorough look at: "the family list, Combs-L, who maintain a website for data on the surnname. It is extensive. Combs researchers are really into data, not republishing family histories that are undocumented." The URL is: http://www.rootsweb.com/~combs/index.html Our FERGUS newsgroup began with just two of us, Shirley/Barney FERGUS and myself. We now number 32 subscribers to the List and an additional 2 to the Digest format. I would like to know if there is any interest at all to totally change the format of the FERGUS Family Facts page working toward something like the COMBS site? Of course, theirs is a joint effort, and I would have to have a bevy of willing volunteers to help is there is a desire. The greatest thing about the idea is that it would not be difficult if there were various volunteers willing to be reponsible for one area. I would like to have some feedback directed and posted to the list about this possiblity. Is anyone interested? A site like the COMBS includes all links and lineages and is indeed easy to understand and follow. Yes, it is missing those colorful pictures and flying flags, but I could still have a few on my home website. And, then I would be able to add the other families in my heritage to my personal webpage as the FERGUS Research Page would move. It was my intention to give FERGUS information/research a jump start and I think that has been accomplished as we have gathered a lot of FERGUS folk from all parts and different countries. What about it? Would each subscriber to this list and any others who would like to join in this effort be willing to evaluate this new possibility and their willingness to participate and at what level. Those subscribed to the list post to the list please so all can get a feeling of the direction we should be heading. Thank you for this consideration - a great way to begin the new year. And, thank you again George, for sharing this site!
