I would like to officially welcome and announce that Shirley FERGUS will be the Communications Liason person for the new FERGUS Research Worldwide website and the FERGUS mailing list. Shirley is an incredible lady who enjoys genealogy, people, and the gift of hospitality = the perfect person to be our Communication Liason person. Many of you have probably received a post or query from Shirley as she has been a FERGUS ambassador(ess:) since I met her on the Internet about a year ago. Shirley is married to Barney (Bernard is his "formal" name) FERGUS from Harrells, North Carolina. We discovered that we ARE cousins and share a common heritage from our g-g-g-g-grandfather, Francis FERGUS, and our g-g-g-grandfather, John Shannon FERGUS which makes us 4th cousins! But here we part ways as my g-g-grandfather is Samuel Raper FERGUS and Barney's is Alexander Marrs FERGUS. You will find Shirley searching for FERGUS e-mail addresses on search engines, gleaning names from the FERGUS Guest Book, and sending off general queries, all with the same purpose . . . to greet, to invite, to welcome, to find, and to enfold other people sharing a heritage with the FERGUS surname while looking under EVERY pebble. Yes, she is amazing! We could actually install a hyperlink to her titled "Ask Shirley!" on the FERGUS website, no just kidding. Do encourage Shirley with your posts to the mailing list - she loves to read them and will most likely correspond with you . . . but DO post to the list!
