    3. The following site has some information that would perhaps be of interest - it is a commercial site from CompuServe, however there are some articles which are available at no charge. One article which ALL should read is "Halberts" - unfortunately many unsuspecting people have purchased books printed by Halbert's (and now purchased by Burke's in the U.K.) on particular surnames. A favorite aunt of mine who knows that I am interested in Fergus genealogy generously sent in her money (approx. $50) and purchased the book as a birthday present for me. The book is basically a boiler-plate mock-up that is used for EVERY surname . . . and then current and VERY old phone listing are printed of all of the Fergus' in America. My cousin, John Fergus, was listed with his business address, his past address, and one that had belonged to his long ago deceased father. That is only one that I recognized as being phony. Caveat emptor! Do read about Halbert's here and pass it on to your unsuspecting relatives and friends. http://forumsb.compuserve.com/gvforums/default.asp?srv=genealogyforum Who's in your family tree? 20 tips to find out.
