I have a copy of the "Belfast Newsletter" dated May 7, 1824 that is on file at the Linen Hall Library. It reads: -------------- -MARRIED- At Kircaldy, on the 3d inst. Horation Spopforde Nixon, Esq. R.C. to Charlotte, third daughter of Walter Fergus, Esq. banker, Glasgow, and of Strabore, in the county of Fife. -------------- I have no idea why this marriage announcement appeared in the Belfast Newsletter as Kirkcaldy is one of the main towns situated on the east coast of Scotland. Perhaps Walter FERGUS was from Belfast originally. . . I retrieved this while searching through the various newspaper collections archived only at the Linen Hall Library, Belfast.
