    3. Bill McGREW's book of transcriptions of 15 Graveyards within Omagh District, Co. Tyrone(1688-1900) has just been published and is now available. The book was launched at the Ulster American Folk Park Emigration Library, Omagh. The 184 pages are packed with names and dates from 15 graveyards located within a 5 mile radius of Omagh, Co Tyrone. Omagh became the county town of Tyrone in 1687 (the U.S. equivalent to the courthouse location for a county). I have just received copy of "Tombstones of the Omey" and can attest to this fine genealogical work. In March I walked the entire Cappagh Cemetery row by row, reading and looking for one of my surnames. I did not find it, but a close variation is listed in this new book. Since the transcriptions began in 1985 there are many gravestones which now are unreadable almost 14 years later. What a valuable contribution Bill McGrew, his family, the Omagh Family History Society, and the North of Ireland Family History Society has bequested to generations to come! Even though I am an Associate Member of the NIFHS, I encourage each of you who has roots in Co Tyrone whether you are a member of NIFHS or not to purchase your own copy of this valuable book. It is a non-profit project to help benefit the society. Therefore, I will do a look-up to see if a surname is listed, however, you will need to purchase the book to find additional information on the listings. The book can be obtained from the North of Ireland Family History Society. Price (including postage) £9 UK, Ireland and Europe; £11 North America and Australia. Please note that ONLY STERLING cheques/checks/money orders can be accepted.
