    3. Dear Bud, RE: FAY-D,Vol. 00, # 30 Message 9: I think this may well be your Jonathan Fay: WILLIAM [Fay 5] Gershom 4, 3, & 2, John 1. He was b. Westboro [MA], July 15, 1752, m. Bethia Bassett; m. 2nd wid.[ow] Wright, m. 3rd Dinah. He settled in Faytown, Onondaga, NY, near a valuable spring which, with an old pear tree, indicate the site of his first log cabin when his nearest neighbor was two miles distant. He was in the war of the Revolution. 9 chil. /page 335 3. JONATHAN [FAY 6], b. 1785, m. Cynthia Robbins, res. Ill. 10 chil. ......1. Samuel [Fay 7], b. Apr. 9, 1792.[cor to 1829 or 1831] ......2. ROXANNA [(FAY) Rundell 7], m. Mr. Rundell 1 son. .............1, John [Rundell 8] .......No names for the other 8 chil. of Jonathan. [Fay, Orlin P. FAY GENEALOGY: John Fay of Marlborough and His Descendants. Cleveland, Ohio: Press of J. B. Savage, 1898: 335-336] Orlin P. Fay does not indicate where any of William FAY's children were born, so it is possible that they were born in CT. I don't know whether or not Orlin P. Fay has the correct date of birth for Jonathan or not. You will probably want to check the following: Census of Faytown, Onodaga County, NY: 1790-1880 Census of Madison County, IL, 1820, 1830;1840;1850. Census of Maupin, Ill. 1840, 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880; 1900; 1910; 1920. War records of the Revolutionary War for Mass: William Fay. If possible you want to locate the Military Pension File, if he filed for a pension. You might also want a History of Faytown, NY and one for Maupin IL, preferably one with genealogies in it. There was a fairly high child mortality level in that time period. Therefore, you need to check several of the CENSUS lists to try to find all 10 children which seem to be indicated. You have five names at present, which is more than I have. You may also want to check the Historical Society or Public Library in Maupin, IL. to see if they have the index to the local graveyards or whether they might have the names of the owners of such graveyards, to whom you might write for further information. If you would like further help, please contact me directly at <mary.bob.nelson@worldnet.att.net> Would you also let me know which of the Fay children of Jonathan is your ancestor. I hope this is your person. Welcome to our family. Mary (FAY) Nelson 9
