    1. Re: [FAY] New York Fays
    2. Robert & Karen Fay
    3. Hi, My husband's branch of the "Fay Family" came from Germany to New York in July,1840 and lived for a time in Erie County at Black Rock New York. One son, at least, moved to WI, but we do not have an accurate year yet for their move. They lived in Racine County then, at least one family moved to LaCrosse County. One of his sons then moved to Ramsey County MN. They did not keep good connections with each other through these moves, and did not often get together because of the distance, probably and the difficulty in travel at that time. We do not have information about the brothers and cousins. I would be happy to share names and the data that I have, if there is a connection. There is no Black Rock listed in the Rand McNally Atlas, but Erie County in on the west side of the state next to Lake Erie while the St Laurence River is on the nothern border considerably east of that area. It is probably not the same Fay line, but then, one never really knows until researching. Water travel was probably not simple either because the Niagra Falls area would be between the two areas. I do not know of a Christopher Fay. It would not be a bad idea to at least keep these communications to refer to in the future. I look forward to hearing from you should you feel there is a connection.
