    3. Dear John Kangas, I don't have any direct information for you but here are a few places to try: Cleveland Public Library 325 Superior Ave. Cleveland OH 44114-1271 Phone: (216) 623-2800 State Library of Ohio Genealogical Division 65 S. Front St., Rm 510 Columbus, Ohio 43215-4163 Phone: (614) 644-7061. Greater Cleveland Genealogical Society P.O. Box 40254 Cleveland, OH 44140-0254 East Cuyahoga County Genealogical Society c/o Jim Walton 2696 Edgehill Rd. Cleveland Heights, OH 44106 Most genealogical Societies and libraries charge a look-up fee to cover their expenses. Try calling the larger groups first and see what they charge and what they can provide to you. You will want to locate: The Cleveland City Directories from 1880-1920. Check every year. You may well have to do this yourself. The Marriage Register Index and the location of Marriage Licences. Naturalization and Immigration Papers Birth announcements, if any, from newspapers between 1890-1893, for the possibility of John Fay's birth. Vital records of John Fay: Birth, baptism between 1890-1893. Obituary and Funeral Notice of Mrs. Magdalena (Kohout) Fay-Vacik from week of 12 January 1918. Obituary of Peter Vacik and see if John Fay is identified in this article as a step-son. Obituary of any male FAY's with widow Magdalena between 1890-1893. Census records of 1900, 1910 and 1920 for Cuyahoga County Ohio, and look for "Peter Vacik" and John Fay. Have you gotten a copy of the cemetery's records for your family yet? These may be at the office of the Cemetery or they may be stored in another location, so ask. These paper records generally tell who owned the lot and who is buried in the lot. They often tell the name of the funeral home that helped with the arrangements. One other place you might try is: Cuyahoga Valley Chapter-OGS Brecksville, OH 44141 Have you checked Filby's Passenger and Immigration Lists (about 20 volumes now/ Now on CD Roms from Family Treemaker, I think) for John Kohout and Magdalena Kohout? If they are not in this series try Germans To America (Now on CD Roms from Family Treemaker, I think) using the approximate years you think that they came to America. Best of luck in your search, Mary (FAY) Nelson 9
