Morning all, I was doing more research into the FAY's line here in Cleveland, Ohio tonight. As there were quite a few FAY's in the census index, I restricted my search to just the known names, I wanted further info on, and those in Cuyahoga County. All this info is from the 1850 census: Parma Township 1543 1673 Benajah FAY 70 M 6000 Mass. Rhoda 72 F Canada Jeremiah 28 M New York Eliza 17 F Ohio Lavina 11 F Mass NOTE: Benajah FAY is OPF 95, though Jeremiah, by all other records was born in Parma, Ohio. This does easily show that Benajah FAY had children by his second wife, Rhoda EDWARDS. By my math Eliza was born 1 year after they were married. I am not sure as to the age of Lavina. is correct. What year did Lovinah, sister of Benejah FAY come to Ohio? I've not yet uncovered that information in my research. Perhaps the entire family went ot Mass. to get Lovinah and bring her here, in which case the state of birth for the youngest child would be okay. Brooklyn Township 1094 1210 Eli FAY 22 M Blacksmith 400 Ohio Lois 42 F 400 Mass Amos 20 M Farmer 400 Ohio Henry 18 M Farmer 400 Ohio Lovell B 2 M Ohio Lovina 76?F Ohio NOTE: Benejah F FAY (OPF 95) had a son named Benajah FAY Jr, whom married Lois HODGMAN. Benejah FAY Jr. died in 1849, one year before this census was taken. This family above is his. It's possible that the Lovina in this family in Benejah FAY Sr. sister. I cannot say for sure for two reasons. Lovina was not born in Ohio, and the age was somewhat illegible. It's either 16 or 76. If the age is 76, I'd bank on her being the sister of Benejah FAY Sr. So I'm not sure as to how she exactly fits into the family. I noticed she is listed as the last member of the household, for whatever reason. He was married to Florilla BRAINARD., and reportedly (from Ginger) traveled out west and returned to Ohio for unknown reasons. I've not seen any proof of this of yet.
