Dear Folks, My husband, Bob, did some web surfing last night and found the site entitled "FREEPAGES AT ROOTSWEB." He looked specifically at "The CHILD Family" of William CHILD [#296] and John CHILD [#148], and John CHILD [#74]. It is this later John CHILD who provided at least three daughters who married FAY men: John CHILD married Hannah FRENCH , a daughter of William FRENCH and Mary LATHROP. Four of the CHILD girls are important to our early FAY genealogy. #3. Hannah CHILD, d. Southborough [orSouthboro], MA on 10 November 1755. She married (1) 17 April 1721, John FAY [3 / OPF # 25], b. 5 December 1700, d. 10 November 1732. She married (2) at Westborough [orWestboro], MA 7 March 1733-4 Samuel Liscomb [or Lyscomb] [See OPF, 1898: 23] #10. Lydia CHILD, baptized 14 June 1711, married in Watertown [MA]19 December 1727 [9/82] James FAY [3 / OPF #32]. [See OPF, 1898: 23-24; 110-111] #12. Ruth CHILD was baptized in Weston, MA on 21 August 1715, probably married in Westborough [or Westboro, MA] 7 March 1722-4, Stephen FAY [3 /OPF #35] [See OPF 1898: 25; 112-114] These three FAY men were brothers and the sons of John FAY 2 [Line Name/OPF #2]. This means that there is a tremendous reduction in ancestors because the children of John Fay 3, Deacon James Fay 3 and Captain/Landlord Fay were all double first cousins!. It is possible that #4. Mary CHILD who was born about 1699-1700, and who died at Westborough [or Westboro], MA on 3 December 1776, and who was married on 21 June 1721 to Nathaniel WHITNEY, b. Watertown, 23 Jan. 1695-6 [9/9] d. Westborough 27 Jan. 1777, is also related to the FAY's as a Nathaniel WHITNEY was the father of Eli WHITNEY I, (1741-1807) who married Elizabeth FAY 4 [OPF # 89], the parents of Eli WHITNEY II [5 / OPF # 89-1], inventor of the cotton gin. [OPF 1898: 24; 29-30; 115-117] I am trying to find a Whitney Genealogy to confirm this linkage. This information in "THE CHILD FAMILY" was collected and copyrighted by Michael J.
