Typescript available. Union soldier. David Henry Fay was born Oct. 12, 1841 at Cazanovia, New York. Raised on a farm by his uncle, on Oct. 9, 1862 he enlisted in the Union Army and served in Company G, 81st Regiment of the New York Infantry. He was wounded at the Battle of Fair Oaks on May 31, 1862 and was subsequently furloughed until Aug. 1862. In September he contracted typhoid fever and was discharged. He died in 1928.
