Hi Chris and Fay, I had mentioned that I thought there were about 20 other Fay genealogies, beyond the one compiled by Orlin Fay. I checked further and the real number is closer to 50, although some are small: a collection of Fay related families bibles for example. I am only familiar with the Orlin Fay genealogy, so I can't comment on the contents of these works. Perhaps others can. 1. For an Irish lineage beginning about 1000 AD see: Irish Pedigree; or The Origin and Stem of the Irish Nation by John O'Hart, 1923, Murphy and McCarty, 86 Walker Street, New York. Actually, this is probably the least help in terms of connecting an individual, but it provides an overview of the Irish Fays that may be helpful, and is interesting if you can borrow it. 2. The Follet-Dewey Fossett-Saford ancestry of Captain Martin Dewey Follet (1765-1831) and his wife Persis Fossett (1769-1849) by Harry Parker Ward, Columbus Ohio, Champlain Printing 1896. Half title:Follett-Dewey Fassett-Safford Hopkins-Robinson-Fay genealogy and history. This is in the US Library of Congress 3. The Fay Papers, by James Fay of Vermont. This is supposedly at the Vermont Historical Society. This may be the genealogy that Mary Fay Nelson is so skeptical about. I have heard that this was the lifes work of James Fay of Vermont and that it shows a descendancy from the Roman ruler Charlemagne. 4. The LDS collection holds 48 items which you can search at http://www.familysearch.org/search/searchcatalog.asp press surname search, enter FAY, select the desired entry to view notes on the contents. There are at least 3 Irish genealogies (2 Fahey, 1 Fay) here, two French, one German, and a number that are English, at least in part. There are North American Fay genealogies not only from New England but from many other parts of the continent as well. I was quite surprised at the comprehensive nature of their Fay collection. So, if official records fail you, and the John Fay of Marlborough genealogy is of no guidance, then there is always this wonderful collection. Beyond this, I would imagine there are other works in private hands. Bob Fay ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
