Dear Listers, I have done some research and learned that there is an Irish line based on the name Fahey which is derived from an ancient Irish name, which is commonly anglicized to Fay. I received a letter that I'll post shortly on that subject. Perhaps the Irish Fahe is a variant of Fahey. Lest you think that an Irish Fay is thus a Fahey, there is at least one Irish Fay line going back to ancient times as Fay, and I am preparing a posting on that line of Fay's. And to further confuse the matter, there appear to be numerous Irish and English lines which go back to French Fay in Normandy as du Fay and de Fay. There also appear to be a few variants that may be the results of a mispelling of Fay as Fey, Foy, and Faye. As the subscribers to this list may have an interest in any of these lines, and as the names seem to get switched back and forth at will, I am subscribing this list to receive and republish the very few listings those lists get, in their digest format here. It should be clear where the posting came from so it should not cause any confusion and perhaps will help somebody solve some mystery somewhere.
