Family story has it that they were in Cumberland, MD in 1846 and were Baptismal sponsors for Rose Ann Byrne, daughter of Michael and Catherine Farrell Byrne, in July of 1846. Sometime between then and October of 1848, both couples left Cumberland; the Byrnes to Pennsylvania; the Fays to Falls Church, VA. A number of years later....I believe in the 1940's or even '50's...there were people by the name of White in Falls Church that were descendants of the Fays. Ann Fay and Catherine Byrne supposedly were sisters, and this is my reason for trying to track them down. Catherine and Michael Byrne were my great grandparents, and we know nothing about their parents, siblings, etc. I know this is pretty vague, just thought I'd give it a shot...nothing ventured; nothing gained.
