WANTED: your GEDCOM! Not all of it.. but the Fay part, from the ancestor mentioned in Orlin's book down. If I can get enough information, I plan to post the composite GEDCOM on the web, so that all can access it. For posting, I will make a cutoff date of 1930 for births: so that in this way, I will eliminate many of the living descendants. If people want, I can push that date back to 1920. There is, of course, a great deal of discussion about privacy and the dangers of listing living people on the net. For myself, I would like to have the whole line down to the present. Reminder: attachments can't be sent through the Fay List. If you are willing to send me your GEDCOM, send it directly to linda@fayfamily.org Linda
Dear Family and Friends, I have added some more pages to the Orlin section. You can go directly to http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~faywebsite/orlinindex.html if you would like to start looking at them. Remember that I still need lots of volunteers to scan this material in-- so far, only one person has offered to help. Linda

Dear FAY Folks, I will not be able to answer most of your inquiries this week. I am flying down to Georgia this weekend and will drive back home with a small truckload of books and small furniture. I will be "gone" for about 10 days. Please be patient. I will read the FAY-D list and try to answer as many of you as I can when I return. I will only answer those for whom I have some information to share. I will answer you as fast as I can. Sincerely, Mary (FAY) Nelson 9
Morning all, A query for those of you who have the Orlin P Fay genealogical book. I've been researching my wife's WILCOX side. Does it show anywhere a Ruth WILCOX marrying a Benjamin FAY? I am asking because according to H. F. Johnston's JOHN WILCOX OF HARTFORD Ruth - b 20 Oct 1781 Middletown, Middlesex Co. CT dau. Jeremiah and Ruth (Dudley) Wilcox m Benjamin Fay, Res. Middletown, Middlesex Co., CT; 3 ch; Ref: Mrs. Wm Richardson, Barbour's VR Middletown v2 p159. I am aware that Benejah and Benjamin are roughly the same. The year matches the date of birth given in Orlin P Fay's book, but there is no birthplace in Orlin P Fay's book, though I had her in my database as being born in Sturbridge, MASS. So before I search this out further, could someone check the Orlin P Fay book for me about a Benjamin FAY who wed a Ruth WILCOX? Thanx just for reading this far. In the meantime I'm awaiting the necessary hard copy pages from the WILCOX book I'm quoting above. LMA Jim & Elica SHREVE

Dear Bob and others, The two I found are on a wonderful IRISH site, and they are both Irish.. one for the Fahy/Fahey branch, and one for the Fay/de Fae branch. No further information is given on the site (that I have been able to find up to this point), except that the symbolism of the boar is discussed. What I find so interesting is that they show the same components. Linda
Morning all, Got some to share with you all. Yesterday we just so happened to drive by the Brooklyn Heights Cemetery in Cleveland, Ohio on the way to a doctor appointment. On the way back home we decided to pay them a visit to see if they had graves on relatives. You could say we hit the jackpot cuz we found several FAY graves, among them my wife's great great grandparents. We also managed to get copy of all but two of FAY's internment records. Our camera was out of film, so we did not get any pictures. :( Without further adieu, here's what we found: In LINNWOOD section These were right beside each other which is not surprising since Esther M FAY is the daughter of Clarence & Ruth FAY. Clarence & Ruth FAY are my wife's 2G grandparents. : FAY Clarence Ruth R 1873-1947 1883-1924 Esther M Fay 1902-1904 In ACACIA PARK section, there was one FAY monument, and two individual stones. According to the internment records we have there are some currently unmarked FAY's buried in that lot as well: FATHER Wm. H Fay 1856-1920 Amelia Wife of W. H. Fay 1858-1909 In GARDEN OF THE APOSTLES, we found a couple more FAY graves: FAY Walter G Evelyn A 1909-1983 1908-1996 Together Forever Enola W Fay 1913-1998 This Enola W FAY was my wife step-great-grandmother. She was the second wife of Eugene Norman FAY. Eugene will, no doubt be buried here with Enola when he passes on to the next life. All the other FAY's for whom we got their internment records, we could not find, even with the map given us by the staff at the cemetery. Not to say they aren't there, and we just missed them. It's also just as likely they may be currently unmarked. Now, here is the info from the internment records. Hi everyone! Linda Fay Kauffman and I are having a fun little contest to see who can come up with shields and crests associated with the medevial Fay's. What we have come up with so far is shown on this webpage. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~faywebsite/crest.html I found the top one, which was attributed to the Fays of Faybrook, co Cavan, Ireland. Which Fays are the others associated with????? Does anyone know of any other crests or shields for other Fay families????????? Anyone have any creative ideas on where we should put them on the website??? Bob Fay ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Hello, A member of my Boston Irish Catholic family was placed in a mental hospital in Massachusetts in the early 1900's. I did not know about it until I started researching my family lines, and after many dead-ends as to her date of death, I finally found out where, when...and with follow-up phone calls, I was told by the mental hospital and funeral home, the same information that you mentioned. It was very traumatic news for me, as I was never told about her cruel death of cancer and mental illness (I suspect her so called "mental Illness was situational depression, as I wonder if she had an abusive husband, and after the death of her supportive Irish father, who lived with the family, (the mother of 5 children a year or two apart) she could not handle the daily stress and abuse. I was told by the MA Funeral Director that all it took was ONE family member to declare a patient to be admitted to a mental hospital. Could you confirm this fact as true. I am a close relative of this person, although I was born many years later. But someone's decision left 5 beautiful little children without a mother or father, as the father deserted these children and the now orphans were placed in a Catholic orphanage to be adopted. There are more unsettling details to this story, but one wonders how the Catholic Church could allow this to happen. This family could not have been the only one to have such a sad tale. If anyone would like to discuss this further, I would welcome your comments to the list or to me. Thanks for letting me vent. Fay FayAnna711@aol.com
