He was born Aug. 3, 1927, in Harts, W.Va., the son of Millard and Nila (Dingess) Farris. He married Lola R. Workman, who survives. He was an auto body mechanic for Bob Dunn, Van Wert, and a coal miner for Island Creek Coal Company. Also surviving are three sons, Clifford of Harts, W.Va., Cledith (Rita) Farris of Grover Hill, and Ernest Jr. (Linda) of Payne; a daughter, Linda (Keith) Miller of Grover Hill; three brothers, George of Harts, W.Va., Charles of Bryan, and Journey Farris of Grover Hill; two sisters, Virginia Rakes of Defiance, and Donna Hoit, Grover Hill; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Lewis; and a sister, Bonnie Smith. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding. Burial will be in the Middle Creek Cemetery, Grover Hill. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today, April 9, at the funeral home, and one hour prior to services. Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
