Augusta Chronicle: 16 Dec. 1914: Death During the Night of Mrs. J. C. Ferris One of the Oldest and one of the Best Beloved of the Women of Augusta Her friends and the friends of her large family will regret to learn of the death, shortly after midnight of Mrs. J. C. Ferris, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Paul Mustin, 306 Broad St. Mrs. Ferris was one of the oldest and one of the best beloved of the women of Augusta. Hers was a beautiful disposition. Her long life has been on of deep devotion to those whom she loved. To her children and grandchildren were deeply attached. She was a pure-hearted Christian and lived her long life in the fear and in the love of God. Her husband, the late Mr. J. C. Ferris, died many years ago. Mrs. Farris' surviving children are Mr. Charles Ferris, Mr. Frank Ferris, Miss Josie Ferris, Mrs. Ida R. Smith, Mrs. W. W. Fry, Mrs. Paul Mustin, and Mrs. L. A. Funeral services from the residence of her son, Mr. Frank E. Ferris, 420 Reynolds St., this (SUNDAY) afternoon at 4 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to be present. Ferris Funeral takes Place this afternoon It was announced yesterday that the funeral services over the remains of Mrs. J. C. Ferris, one of Augusta's most beloved and Christian women, who passed quietly away yesterday morning shortly after midnight at the residence of her son, Mr. Frank Ferris, 420 Reynolds St. will be held at the residence 420 Reynolds St. this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Rev. G. Sherwood Whitney, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church will officiate. the interment will be in the city Cemetery. The following young men who are her grandsons will act as pallbearers: Messrs. Harvey Ferris, Wescott Ferris. Charles Ferris, John Ferris, W. W. Frye, Jr., and Lawrence A. Dorr, Jr. Mrs. Ferris is survived by two sons Mr. Charles Ferris and Mr. Frank Ferris and five daughters, Miss Josie Ferris, Mrs. Ida R. Smith, Mrs. W. W. Fry, Mrs. Paul Mustin, and Mrs. L. A. Dorr. ----------------------------- Augusta Chronicle 18 Dec. 1914 MRS. FERRIS' REMAINS INTERRED YESTERDAY: Many Beautiful Floral Designs Sent to Funeral of Loved Woman. Funeral services over the remains of Mrs. J. C. Ferris were held yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the residence of her son Mrs. Frank Ferris, 420 Reynolds St. Rev. G. Sherwood Whitney, rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, officiating. The interment was in the City Cem. Mrs. Ferris passed quietly away during the early hours of Sat. morning following a brief illness. She was one of Augusta's most lovable women, possessed of many Christina virtues and a personality that won for her friends wherever known. The funeral services both at the residence and at the grave were most impressive. Beautiful floral designs contributed by sympathetic friends were tenderly spread upon the grave of one whose death has cast gloom over many homes. Her six grandsons (named again) acted as pall-bearers.
