Born March 24, 1914, in Ethel, Mo., she was the daughter of Clarence and Linnie White Dowell. On May 1, 1931, she married George Farris in Linneus, Mo. He died Nov. 10, 1955. On March 4, 1977, she married Clarence Tompkins in Fort Madison. He died July 27, 1992. Mrs. Tompkins was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include one son, Kim (Theresa) Farris of Wever; three daughters, Irene (Robert) Fraser and Lucille (Arthur) Miller, both of Wever, and Mary (Wayne) Malcom of Clinton; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; one sister, Opal Leaton of Brookfield, Mo.; and one brother, Bill Dowell in Bettendorf. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jack Farris. There will be no visitation. The body has been cremated. A private graveside service for Mrs. Tompkins will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in rural Fort Madison. King-Lynk Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
