She was born in Red Cloud, NE, on August 18, 1925, to Clarence E. and Nellie V. (Fry) Laizure. The first of seven children, she always took pride in her pioneer heritage. Ruth was married to Rev. William B. Farris, with whom she had four children: Mike Farris of Kansas City, Judith Bernicchi of Richmond, VA, David Farris of Nixa, MO and John Farris of Fair Grove, MO. She was later married to Truman C. Braly until his death in 1995. Ruth attended Fort Hays State College, and was a graduate of Central Missouri State College. She was a teacher in the Kansas City School District at Van Horn High School, Westport High School, and Southeast High School. She also taught at Center High School in the Center School District. Following retirement, she was a volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Hospital in Kansas City. She was a member and past officer of Alpha Delta Kappa, a professional teachers' sorority. Ruth was pre! deceased by one sister, Marjorie Dreher. She is survived by her four children, nine grandchildren, one great-grandson, sisters, Jeane Smith, Manhattan, KS, Bette Fiero, East Lynne, CT, Dolores Eilts, Hays, KS and Karen Frydendall, North Mankato, MN; and one brother, C.J. (Jim) Laizure, Gilroy, CA. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 16, 2003, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd. Burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the chapel. Donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association. (Arr: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel (816) 353-1218)
