    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Miller, Farris Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GeV.2ACEB/1701 Message Board Post: For the mystery lovers out there – those of you who love the “hunt” for ancestors, I have one that has stumped me – thus I am asking for suggestions on this brick wall. The facts are: Unknown Miller born in TN and died between 1875 and 1878 in MO was married to a Francis Unknown born about 1842 in AL. They had the following kids: Alice in 1866, Laura in 1868, Sherman in May 1870, George in 1873 and Lewis in 1875 (all born in MO). After the death of her husband, Francis married an Unknown Farris and gave birth to Ida C Farris about 1879. The only Census I have found Francis Farris on is the 1880 Census where she was listed as head of house in Spring Creek in Howell County, Missouri. I gather that the Unknown Farris husband was dead at this point – Ida C’s father does not have a state of birth. Sherman Miller would move to Arkansas by 1891 where he married a Clemmie. In the 1900 Census Sherman was living in Van Buren County, Arkansas. I have searched as best I can the 1870 Census for Missouri and the 1900 Census for Arkansas and Missouri - there is no trace of Francis Miller or Francis Farris that I can find. I am posting this on the general forum in search of ideas and suggestions of where next to look, but I am also posting in the surnames and counties. Normally I would not be this desperate to find the information, but this is my wife’s first husband’s family. Before he died of cancer he worked on his family history in hopes of submitting it before he died. He was unable to get past this brick wall – and now with all the resources of the net – Census and such – I too find myself stuck. My wife and I have found much of our families and decided to try and finish this project for him – so please – if you can think of something we have missed, post a follow-up or email us direct. Thanks!
