The Star Shelby, NC Sept 4, 2003 Helen Johnson SHELBY - Mrs. Helen Queen Johnson, 85, of 2315 Taylor Road, died Wednes-day, Sept. 3, 2003, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. Born Dec. 29, 1917, in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late Homer Wilson and Lola Ferris (sic) Wilson. She was previously employed at Lily Mill, Wilson Realty and Kmart. She was former president of the Women's Auxiliary for the Disabled American Veterans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Garland Queen and Jess Johnson; and a son, Gary Queen. She is survived by two sons, Steve Queen and Stan Queen, both of Shelby; a sister, Dot O'Shields of Shelby; and grandchildren, Carmen Griffin, Emily Queen, Adam Queen, Jason Queen and Josh Queen. A graveside service will be held today at 2:30 p.m. in Sunset Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Billy Towery officiating. The family will receive friends at Clay-Barnette Funeral Home one hour before the service. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, 1138 E. Marion St., Shelby, NC 28150.
