She was born in the Carpenter's Bluff Community, daughter of P.C. and Viola Lee Harlow. She attended school at Oak Ridge and Denison High, graduating from high school in Levelland, Texas. She moved back to Denison with her family in 1930 where she was employed at J.J. Newberry's and Patterson Mfg. Co. In 1943 she moved to Dallas and was employed at Cokesbury Bookstore. As World War II came upon us, she felt dedicated to help with the war cause. She was employed with the North American Aviation plant, helping to make B24 bomber airplanes and was know as Rosie the Riveter. Before retiring she worked at the Dallas Morning News as an accountant. Always faithful to her church and Sunday School, she was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was a volunteer for Frontier Village and member of Denison Arts and Crafts and Gate City Chapter #77 Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Juanita Hardy, Denison, Texas, Frances Herrington and Janice Cosby, Pasadena, Texas, Wallace Harlow, Port Neches, Texas and Eugene Harlow, Phoenix, Arizona. Family night visitation was Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, 631 W. Woodard St., Denison, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2003 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park conduced by Dr. Carol Norton, under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home. The family request memorials to the First Baptist Church, 601 W. Woodard St., Denison, Texas 75020.
