I have a John Logan Faris in my database (son of James Samuel Hampton Faris). Does anyone know if this could be the same person listed in this obit as the father of Sheila Davis? Charlotte Observer Charlotte, NC November 6, 2003 Sheila Ferris Davis Mrs. Davis, 82, of Charlotte, died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 at White Oak Manor. Born August 24, 1921 in Mecklenburg County, Sheila was the daughter of the late John Logan Ferris and Agnes Clifton Long Ferris. A graduate of Central High School and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Davis had been employed for over 20 years as a secretary for the Federal Aviation Administration and following her retirement she worked in the office of the Salvation Army as a secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Crown Davis, and grandsons, Mark and Jeff Davis. Mrs. Davis is survived by her three sons, Worth Davis and wife, Beth, Hal Davis and wife, Diane, and Cliff Davis, all of Charlotte; and five grandchildren, Gray, Hunter, Skip, Jennifer and Zach. A graveside service will take place Friday, November 7, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Evergreen City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Music Dept., c/o First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Trade St., Charlotte, NC 28202 or to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204. Carolina Funeral Service and Cremation Center is entrusted with the arrangement.
