    3. I posted the following obit to the Faris board, but wanted to be sure the folks on the Farris-L see it...so I will post here as well. Notice it lists her brother's name as "Faires" but her maiden name as "Faris". Goes to show there can be variations of spelling within the same family. MCCARTER CLOVER, S.C. - Gladys Faris McCarter, 86, 103 Oak St., died Feb. 19, 2003, at White Oak Manor in York. She was born March 9, 1916, in York County, daughter of the late George Mason Faris and Clementine Bell Faris. FUNERAL: 2 p.m. Sunday, M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home chapel INTERMENT: Woodside Cemetery. VISITATION: 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mrs. McCarter was a longtime resident of Clover, SC, and the widow of Lindsay B. McCarter. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clover, SC, a member of the Eastern Star, worked at the American Thread Co., and retired from Klear Knit, Inc.
