She was a loving and dedicated mother who cherished her children. She was a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Farris; her mother, Maybelle Shaw; and a sister, Mildred Holt. She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Maria Farris and Venessal Lewis; seven sons, Robert Harrell, Howard (Osceola) Harrell, Ronnie Harrell, Donald Harrell, Billy Harrell, Johnny Farris, Ronald Farris; a niece, Joyce Walker; a host of grandchildren, including Xavier Peoples, Lucinda Farris and Clifton Jones; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Frances S. and Jerry C. Gilmore Memorial Chapel, where the Rev. Ardeal Roseboro will officiate. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the Gilmore Chapel. The funeral cortege will assemble and leave from the residence. Arrangements are entrusted to Gilmore Funeral Home.
