    1. Re: [FARRIS-L] W. W. Farris of VA to LA to TN
    2. Diane, I can,t help your search but thought I would email you anyway. A couple years ago I corresponded with a gentleman on this list by the name of Stan Farris his email address was [email protected] Stan had a lot of information on the Farris Families in Sabine Parish. I believe it was William Farris and Albert Farris . Stan would be the person to get in touch with. I do not have proof yet but I believe the following is a strong probability: Thomas Farris was in SC circa 1790 to 1800 and had at least six or seven children. \ > 1. Thomas Faris b. ca. 1789 possibly South Carolina married (1) Sarah Raburn 8-04-1811 in Amite County Mississippi (2) (This could be a father and son) Elizabeth Rutland 10-20-1814 in Amite County Mississippi > 2. David Farris b. possibly South Carolina is in Early Inhabitants of the Natchez District in Amite Co. in 1816 > 3. Denisy Fairis b. possibly South Carolina married John Welch 12-24-1814 in Amite County Mississippi > 4. William Pharish ( b.1795 in South Carolina per Texas information) is in Early Inhabitants of the Natchez District in Pike Co. in 1816 married Nancy Zachary 9-07-1815 in Amite County Mississippi > 5. Lindsey Faris b. ca 1797 married Matilda Goode 12-12-1823 in Amite County Mississippi (later Samuel and Nancy both name a daughter Matilda) > 6. Nancy Farris ( b. 1799 per Texas information) possibly South Carolina married Fred H. Pollard 1-09-1819 in Amite County Mississippi > 7. John Farris ( b. 1800 in South Carolina per Texas information ) married (1) Rebecca Green 3-10-1819 in Wilkinson County Mississippi (2) Aurena Fulgham 9-28-1824 in Lawrence County Mississippi He moved his family to Kentucky where he had at least two more children. > 8. Samuel (b. 1807 in Kentucky per Texas information) married Orpha Smith 5-24-1832 in Lawrence County Mississippi > 9. Lucinda Farris b. ca. 1808 possibly in Kentucky married Cullen Yawn 12-31-1829 in Lawrence County Mississippi > 10. Squire ( b. 1809 per Texas information) possibly in Kentucky married Rebecca Rutland 1-04-1837 in Lawrence County Mississippi again he moved his family this time to Mississippi where he had five or six more children. > 11. Daniel (b. In Mississippi per Texas information) > 12. Albert b. ca. 1813 possibly in Mississippi married Anny Ott 3-02-1835 in Lawrence County Mississippi > 13. Hester b. ca. 1814 possibly in Mississippi married John H. Sones 6-17-1834 in Lawrence County Mississippi > 14. Sarah b. ca. 1816 possibly in Mississippi married Willis Rayborn 3-06-1836 in Lawrence County Mississippi > 15. Matilda b. ca. 1818 possibly in Mississippi married I can't remember at this moment but I believe it was in 1835. At least five of these children moved to Texas between 1830 -1834. > In 1834 there are Character certificates for John Pharish, William Phariss, Daniel Pharis, and Samuel Pharis. In the 1835 census for the Bevil District is John Pharish, Samuel Pharish, Squire Pharish, and William Pharish. I am not sure where Daniel is in this census and you will notice the younger brother Squire has appeared by this 1835 census along with a sister Nancy that was married to Fred Pollard. In the Character certificates it says John and William were natives of South Carolina in the census of 1835 John is 35 years old and William is 40 years old. The Character certificates say that Samuel is a native of Kentucky and in the census he is 28 years old. The Character certificates say that Daniel is a native of Mississippi. In the census of 1835 it says Squire is 26 years old and Nancy the sister is 36 years old. In the Character certificates it lists Daniel, Samuel, and William in San Augustine and it list John in the Bevil District. The 1835 census is of the Bevil District Now this indicates to me at least that these people were closely related. One or more of these children moved to Sabine Parish circa 1840. Estelle
