November 16, 1930 - June 14, 2003 Joy Farris, soul mate of Calvin Farris, edned her battle with illnesses on June 14, 2002. Joy was born November 16, 1930 in Chattanooga, TN to Harry and Pearle Campbell. They moved to St. Louis, MO a couple of months later. In 1944, Joy moved to Richalnd and remained there for most of the rest of her life. She was a member of the Col-Hi Bombers Class of 1948. Joy was an active member of the Richland Light Opera Company. She worked on designing costumes and as a stage manager. She was also involved in the Women's Bowling Association, Junior Bowler instructor at Atomic Lanes, and was the league and district WIBC secretary. Joy worked at the Hanford Project in the 1950s for Kaiser and quit work to raise her children. She later went back to work for Virto and Westinghouse, working her way up to a quality control engineer. Joy retired early due to her health. Joy enjoyed family gatherings, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, collecting beanie babies and salt and pepper sets. Her salt and pepper collection was one of the largest in the Northwest, numbering over 1,350 sets and over 350 beanies. Joy's most favorite activities were traveling to Curlew Lake with her husband of 49 years, Calvin, shopping at antique stores, and watching her family grow. Joy is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Pearle Campbell, her daughter, Martina Rebecca Lehman, and her grandson, Brian Jerome Lehman. She is survived by her sons (spouses): Kenneth Edward (Lori) of Walla Walla, Jon Earle (Linda) of West Richland, Gene Calvin of Spokane, her son-in-law, Jerry Lehman of Richland, and her grandchildren (spouses): William, Joshua and Jacob Farris, Maris (Jeff) Wray, Patrick (Teresa) Farris, Nicole and Casi Farris, Dashia (Mike) Hopp, Candi (Neil) Norman, Amanda Siemens, Carianne (Jim) Shuster, Mindella, Charles and Samantha Lehman, and her great grandchildren: Mathias, Steven, Kyle, Taylor, Ryan, Mikey, Madison, Damiana, Lauren, Aidan, Mandee, Alexandria, Dyoni, Nicholas, and Travis, and her siblings: Elizabeth (Harold) Jones of West Richland, Robert (Jackie) Campbell of Richland, Gene Campbell of Duvall, WA, Sue of New York, and David (June) Campbell of Spanaway, WA, and her in-laws: Dorothy and Jack Neely in Klamath Falls, OR,! Virginia and Kelly Shackleford in Sonora, CA, George and Wanda Farris of Klamath, OR, David and Carol Mocabee of Klamath Falls, OR, and Fran and Russ Norman in Little Rock, AR. Joy will be missed greatly by her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends. A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2002 at Einan's Funeral Home. Although her death was not attributed to Alzheimer's, memorial contributions may be made in Joy's memory to Alzheimer's Disease Research Center, University of Washington RP-10, Seattle, WA 98195.
